About this ebook

Due to a clerical mix up at church camp, Brother Smith, a born-again-Christian, is forced to share a bedroom with one of his beautiful, female charges who – unfortunately for him – has more than a little experience where succumbing to the sins of the flesh is concerned.

I’m really proud of this story. It’s novella length and is a perfect example of my favourite kind of writing: it’s a little bit larger than life, it’s a little bit unbelievable, but it’s fantastically naughty with it.

The Last Temptation of Brother Smith is one of those, reluctant-male-seduced stories, and it was an opportunity for me to unleash a little personal frustration I’d experienced at the hands of a certain church as a teenager. Enjoy!

Please note that The Last Temptation of Brother Smith is also available as part of the novella pairing, Reluctant Seductions.

J P Philips

J P Philips describes himself as, "A perfectly ordinary, happily married, forty-something-year-old man who accidentally stumbled upon a talent for erotic writing." It began back in 2006 while, on a wine-fuelled whim, he decided to write a fictitious 'girlfriends' confession' in an attempt to be published by a certain mens' magazine. As a bi-product of that experience he discovered a strange thrill in writing erotica, and so he went on to create more stories, publishing them online in an amateur capacity, where he was awarded several prizes and quickly amassed a considerable fan-base. An early attempt at a personal website then followed, a professional publishing contract was duly signed, but in the end he decided that he really wanted to go it alone, and so he now publishes all of his short stories and novellas independently. Asked how best to describe his writing style, JP has come up with the snappy title, "Slightly-larger-than-life-story-led-hardcore".

The Last Temptation of Brother Smith

‘But Bethan of all people! Good Lord!’ Elder Anderson screwed up his eyes, removed his spectacles and pinched the bridge of his nose before looking up once more. ‘How on earth did this happen?’

Never before had Jacob heard the old man raise his voice. He was normally so placid – so considered. ‘Well I’m not entirely sure, Sir. I think there must have been some kind of a mix up when the hostel emailed us details of their facilities.’

‘Well it’s no good, Brother Smith; you’ll just have to share with her yourself.’

‘Me?’ Jacob cried with unsuppressed shock. ‘I – I mean excuse me, Sir, but couldn’t someone else do it?’

Someone else, Brother Smith?’ replied Elder Anderson with a humourless snort. ‘Who on earth do you have in mind, man?’

‘Well, um, perhaps Brother Wallace...’ Jacob offered tentatively.

‘Oh yes, I’m sure Sister Wallace would just love that idea.’

Jacob shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, staring down at the cheap, walnut-effect desk before nervously speaking once more. ‘Or perhaps you yourself might like to...’

‘Are you quite mad, Brother Smith!’ he howled. ‘You want me, a highly respected temple Elder, to share a room with a nineteen-year-old girl! And a girl with a – with a certain reputation!’

    ‘I just thought...’

‘Yes well it’s just thinking that’s got us into this mess to begin with, isn’t it?’ he said somewhat illogically.

    ‘I’m sorry Sir, I…’

‘Look,’ the old man continued, calmer now, but with no less assertive a command to his voice, ‘Brother Smith – Jacob – I know you mean well and I know it’s not your fault we’re in this terrible pickle, but it simply has to be you. Don’t you see? There’s no one else. I’ve told the church council time and time again that we need at least one female member on the pastoral staff for these blessed retreats, but will they listen?’

‘But perhaps we could just move one of the beds into another room?’

Elder Anderson replaced his glasses on the very tip of his nose and peered over them with raised eyebrows. ‘I take it you haven’t seen the rooms yet, Brother Smith?’

    ‘Um, no, Sir, not yet.’

‘Well let’s just say they’re as – um – as luxurious as this dreadful office. You can barely move between the two beds that are in them as it is. I tell you, it’s the first and last time we hire this dump of a place – I don’t care how much cheaper it is.’ He looked down at the desk with a scowl, sweeping away an invisible layer of dust before rubbing his fingertips together with clear distain. ‘And besides, health-and-safety… There must be at least one member of staff to each floor; you surely know that by now.’

‘Well yes, but how about if one of the other girls was to swap with Bethan?’

The old man waved his hand dismissively in the air. ‘They’re all settled in now. And besides, what kind of a show of faith would it be for us to send her elsewhere? She’s come a long way since that unfortunate incident with Brother Andrews. We owe her our trust.’

    ‘Yes Sir, but...’

Elder Anderson lifted himself awkwardly from the leatherette chair and slowly made his way around the desk to put a paternal arm across Jacob’s shoulder. ‘Brother Smith, allow me to let you into a little secret.’ It was the first time Jacob had experienced such familiarity from the old man and he was not at all sure that he liked it. ‘We on the council have great hopes for you, young man,’ he said, giving Jacob’s arm a bony-fingered squeeze. ‘Oh yes, don’t look so surprised; your name often comes up in council meetings. The church needs new blood and by Jove you’re just the kind of man we’re looking for. You’re young, intelligent and, dare I say it, handsome. Even better! You came to us from the outside. You’ve seen how the other folk live. You’ve experienced a large part of your life without faith and so are perhaps easier to relate to amongst those we hope will join us. Most importantly, however…’ Elder Anderson brought his face that little bit closer so that Jacob had to force himself not to recoil from the touch of the old man’s breath against his cheek. ‘Do you know how many Elders have been gifted direct contact from The Holy Father himself? Not many, I can tell you that. Most were born into the church, were raised in the church and will die in the church. They couldn’t even begin to know what it’s like to suffer
