About this ebook
Who knew trying to kill one another would be such an aphrodisiac?
Garik and Rachel are just like Romeo and Juliet, except for the fur, the fangs, and the powerful urge to fornicate despite being members of warring wolf packs. She’s a curvy were-soldier scout for the Central Coast cell of the Odin Wolves. He’s the sergeant-at-arms for the Sons of Fenris, a pack of motorcycle-riding werewolves descended directly from the Fenris Wolf himself. And those don’t mix without spilling blood.
Rachel Corey has been doing everything she can to avoid Garik Hagen and her attraction to the Fenris Wolf. But what’s she supposed to do when he prowls right into the middle of her assignment to recover a powerful Aesir artifact from an art dealer delivering the relic to a private buyer? How is one little curvy were, the youngest and weakest of her pack, supposed to protect herself from the Sons of Fenris MC when the rest of Garik’s gang show up with the intention of claiming the prize for themselves and ravaging Rachel in the process? Can she trust Garik’s word that he’s there to head off his own pack and protect her? What if the sexy, brooding enforcer is just part of a trap she can’t resist?
Worst of all, what if Rachel’s instincts are right and Garik is her mate?
Forbidden lust, bloodthirsty enemies, and star-crossed love. It’s going to make for one wild night.

CHAPTER ONE
It chaffed Rachel’s chubby little ass, as she liked to say as both a curvy girl and a petite one at only five-foot-two, that her alpha wouldn’t have sent any of her pack brothers on this errand, only her. Granted she was the scout for the Central Coast Pack of were-soldiers, all of them Odin’s Wolves by blood, by training, and ultimately by choice. The problem was that scouts were supposed to be the fastest, most observant, most cunning members of the pack. Rachel never forgot, as she directed her Jeep with a hard swerve and a bounce into the tiny, uneven parking lot of the Goldstone Beach Grill, that she got the job because she was the youngest and the weakest. Scout work kept her out of the way while alpha Elias and his veteran weres did the heavy lifting, so to speak. It was like getting one of those off-color ribbons at an elementary school fitness day event, not the blue or the red ribbon that said First or Second Place, but the pink or funky purple one that said Participant and meant dead last but at least you tried, you adorable little loser.
Now parked, Rachel caught a glimpse of herself frowning in the mirror mounted on the back of the sun visor. Her pale blond hair, usually straight and neat with bangs that made her look even younger than her actual twenty-two, swirled wildly over her smooth, plump shoulders and the snug gray tank top she’d worn to show off her ample chest in case she needed to apply a bit of curvy girl charm. Driving in the sun with the Jeep top folded back had warmed her already gently tanned skin and brought a wind-beaten flush to her lips and chipmunk cheeks. Hell, the ridiculously scenic Pacific Coast Highway ran just a few yards off to her right. The ocean and the locally renowned Goldstone Beach (named for the dust of glistening glass and semi-precious pebbles spread over the sand by the tide) lay directly across a side street to her left. And the best fresh shrimp cocktail in California waited ahead of her at the small but swanky restaurant. Insisting on being in a bad mood was a waste of what any normal person would have considered a perfectly pleasant outing.
Tuck back the wolfy angst, Rach,
the she-were told herself and ran a brush through her long hair before smoothing on some clear lip balm and straightening her mirrored sunglasses. Rachel checked her reflection again. She looked good. Anyone who didn’t have a strong distaste for big girls would have agreed. Most importantly, she herself agreed with the estimation that this was a good hair, good skin, good curves day. Screw the bad mood. Screw all that runt of the litter
bullshit. And screw Lund, the pack’s second-in-command, for teasing her just that morning about being their mascot and nicknaming her Snowball. Her wolf wasn’t white; in lupine form she was actually a very light, very attractive shade of tan. Champagne, even. Lunch is on you, Lund,
she muttered under her breath. Then she headed into the glass-front restaurant as the last of the afternoon rush was straggling out. With a smile, she told herself, I’ll be expensing two orders of shrimp cocktail, I think.
It was only an appetizer anyway.
The restaurant host, sporting a deep tan and a carefully planned beach-casual look in pressed white linen and leather sandals, asked if Rachel would like a seat in the
