About this ebook

In simple, yet bold and vigorous language the author enunciates the basic principle of the Philosophy of Atheism.
Packed with info on how religion has delayed life-saving progress in medicine and technology that we rely upon today. Gives great reasons why religion keeps people fearful and encourages positive atheism, a life where we focus not on appeasing the wrathful god of our imaginations, but on helping human beings. This book is humanist in nature. Joseph Lewis was an American freethinker, and atheist. He writes: "If Atheism writes upon the blackboard of the Universe a question mark, it writes it for the purpose of stating that there is a question yet to be answered. Is it not better to place a question mark upon a problem while seeking an answer than to put the label "God" there and consider the matter solved? Does not the word "God" only confuse and make more difficult the solution by assuming a conclusion that is utterly groundless and palpably absurd?"

Mostly a little blue book, short and easy to read. Much of the ground is familiar, but the work is well written and passionate. It's very interesting to read these works from the pre-Boomer generation, and realize that they sound nearly identical in idea, content, and form to the books written by the so-called "New Atheists" today. If this author were alive today, no doubt he would be given the modifier of "militant", though the work is anything but militant in tone or creed. It is, in fact, calling for a much kinder, gentler world. Overall, not a bad read, and only takes about an hour.

The author just has an axe to grind against Christianity. This offers no intellectual insight into atheism at all. The alleged facts and quotes the author throws out are not documented, therefore bear no weight to me at all.

A powerful indictment of religion--Christianity in particular--but not written in a way that is likely to convert a believer to the truth.
