About this ebook
Victor Asayes, acclaimed molecular geneticist, finally gets the break he needs to chase his dreams of running his own laboratory. He’s trying to further develop his research in genomic modifications to help eliminate many of the treatable ailments humans face in this day and age. His wife, Famiya, is a bit more apprehensive and cautious about the venture. She seems to prefer things to stay just as they are.
A generous grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH) affords him a building that will be perfect for his new laboratory. Once he steps foot inside and makes a surprising discovery, it may be life altering in a much different fashion than anticipated. Will Famiya decide to be his rock, an unbreakable support system for him to rely on as he investigates the history and nature of this finding, or reveal a side of her that Victor never saw before?
The world is changing, whether we all like it or not, and with the exponential rate of advancement in technology there is going to come changes that we may not always agree with, or feel comfortable with. The question is, what great lengths are people willing to go to in order to prevent the next big revolution? What will Victor be able to do to make sure science isn't the culprit for the next major catastrophe that plagues the earth?

Chapter 1
Victor shot up out of bed, looked over at Famiya and shook her violently. Famiya, Famiya, wake up! Today is the day, my love. We finally get the keys.
They had been awarded a national grant from the NIH giving them enough money to open up their lab and pursue various projects in the field of genetic manipulation and induced methylations. After months of scouting out locations and dealing with nasty landlords, Victor had decided on his destination. The new lab for his home, and most likely his new home away from home. He smiled candidly and exhaled all of the worries, concerns, fears, and other manifestations he had been holding onto.
Victor glanced over at his beautiful wife, and spoke once more: It’s time.
Famiya lay there with her long flowing blonde hair, eyes as a blue as the most exotic tropical waters, and a smile that turned even the toughest men into mush.
She responded: It’s about time, Mr. Asayes,
with a groggy, but playful voice.
Every project, every piece of equipment, and every question had already been ordered and accounted for.
He couldn’t help himself; like a kid in a candy shop, he just had to keep talking to her. Victor was afraid this much excitement inside of him might cause him to spontaneously combust. It just all seems so surreal still. It’s as if I’m living in a movie that’s been extracted straight out of my mind. A script based off of my dreams, my visions, and lifelong aspirations. I’m so proud of us. We made it.
Victor paused, looked up and out of the bedroom window, and slowly, an even bigger smile started to emerge. Remember that first day we met at The University of Warsaw? I just finished giving that brutally long lecture, and you came right up to me afterwards. I had to take a second to pick my jaw up from the floor and try to remember the English language.
Victor laughed at the thought of it all.
Yeah hun, pretty amazing how things worked out, I agree. From meeting at that lecture to getting this grant, I’d say meeting me was the best thing that ever happened to you.
They both laughed, causing Victor to fall on his back, and stare at the ceiling. I’m still in shock at the location you chose for the lab. Of all places to go with your NIH grant money, of all the tens and tens of buildings and labs we visited. Some were almost plug-and-play ready, but you chose that particular building..."
Yes, and what about it?
Victor interrupted. He already felt a sense of pride and ownership and they hadn’t even moved in yet. This was the foundation for his future and no one had the right to insult it.
It’s just so...
Famiya thought twice about her next words, ...it’s just so right!
Victor cocked his head with a look of surprise and confusion as he was clearly not expecting such a response. The negative connotation in her voice had suddenly disappeared. "Oh, well of course it is. You know I tend
