Prologue

It had been years since we'd met online. Time had just drifted away, as we conversed and shared our lives separately, and accepted each other as a common place within our routine.

But now, the time had come to make it something more real. As we realized we both wanted something more out of it.

It had taken heavy preparation, and I'd had to coax her through the roughest patches.

She'd been afraid of everything when we'd met. She was getting braver by the day, and I loved helping her discover herself.

We were leaving the airport, her jet arriving fairly late on a windy, but otherwise bland spring day.

I was feeling very nervous, despite how often we'd shared each other's company online. After all, could it really translate to offline as well?

For as well as we knew each other, without seeing each other's faces constantly, this was a worry for me.

For her as well, as she'd admitted once or twice. She wasn't entirely sure we'd be able to talk at all in person.

Luckily once she was in the middle of most situations, she dealt better with them than she expected. She was still surprised every time.
