- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5To the Gallows by G. S. LuckettGreat gritty graphic Western that reads just like a Western should! Westerns are a genre unto themselves. They should have strong heroes and evil bad guys. They should have a story to tell that includes horses, saloons and fist fights, bandits, Indians, lawmen, soldiers, stagecoaches and a feel for the West as it once was. This story has all of these and more. A black lawman and an Indian gunslinger – what could they have in common? Quite a bit it would seem! This story is only the introduction to Cole and Joseph and what an introduction it is! I don’t like to give away plots so won’t begin now but will say that if you like Westerns, and even if you don’t, this is a well written and thought provoking book. I also have to say it had me scurrying to google Filipinos and their history in the USA. Why? Because mention was made of one in the book. Thank you to LibraryThing and the author for the copy of this book to read and review. I really want to find out happens next in this series…if it indeed is a series :)5 Stars
