About this ebook

Children love presents, but when Simon’s mother gives him a soft toy he shies away from it. And no wonder. The toy is nearly as big as he is and has a bad-tempered scowl on its face. Nevertheless, Simon wants to like it so he gives it a name: the Grizzly Grump. And it is then that the toy begins talking. After this, Simon is entranced by the tales the Grump has to tell, and he learns that toys, like people, cannot be judged on first appearances.

Like Simon, the reader will be enthralled by the ups and downs of the Grump’s fortunes, during a magical journey which mirrors the ups and downs of real life and enables both him and Simon to find the happiness they seek.

This witty and amusing book, suitable for children of any age between 6 and 12, uses rhymes to enliven the text, and takes a wry, warm-hearted look at the world as viewed through a child’s eyes. The author is Sam Cullingworth, former WFF 'Mr World', film actor and paraglider pilot. The illustrations were drawn by his father, Nick Cullingworth.

I'm a paragliding, bodybuilding, acting author with not enough time to do all the crazy things in life I want to. After a hiatus of some 28 years, I wrote this book out of a father's love for his child. Having got the "desire to write" I wish to connect with other writers and promote my book, as well as continue writing.Life has been good to me, despite breaking my back in 2006 in a paragliding accident, I recovered to compete in the Pro Mr World championships in 2007, and have made a full recovery. Various film parts, and a few commercials keep my life varied. More recently I have undertaken to get involved in training stroke victims and assisting in their rehabilitation.More to come as I progress! :)

Simon was a clever little boy. As a reward his mummy brought him a toy.

Yikes! he said. At first sight this toy filled him with dread. It stood two foot four when placed on the floor. Crikey! It's big enough to open the kitchen door.

Simon meets the Grizzly Grump for the first time.

Two large red plastic shoes covered a pair of hairy feet; they helped him stand up a treat. Black chequered baggy trousers without a crease, covered a pair of knobbly knees. As Simon looked up towards his head, he caught sight of a big round tummy that he thought was rather funny.

Haha! laughed Simon. "He's eaten too
