About this ebook

Exiled on the unfamiliar planet of Earth, Tyana must learn to blend in with normal Earthlings and bide her time until she finds a way back to Lemuria and her sister Cyena.

She can’t escape the instinct that something is off about the elite Lemurrian colony where she and the others refugees are hiding. She learns more of the prophecy from elite elders but begins to suspect she can’t trust those who are claiming to be her allies - especially after she discovers that they know how to get back to Lemuria but won’t let her go.

To make matters worse, she’s drawn to an Earthling named Collin, a man who makes her heart race with every look. Still reeling over the loss of Ryker, she can’t explain why she’s compelled to Collin and struggles to reconcile his death and her attraction to Collin with her guilt.

Rebellion members from Lemuria soon track down the colony of elite hiding out on Earth with orders to kill any survivors. If they succeed in reaching the elders, any chance Tyana has of returning to Lemuria will be destroyed.
With little time and the danger around her growing, Tyana must stay alive long enough to unravel the elders’ secrets and find her way home.

    Chapter One

The sun beat down from the light blue sky, causing Tyana’s robe to cling to her back. There wasn’t even the slightest breeze to relieve the stifling heat.

Her first impression of Earth was not a good one.

All she could hear was the sound of branches cracking beneath her feet and her own heavy breathing. Adrenaline surged through her as she ran. Where in the universe was Elder Lydia leading them? And why were they in such a hurry? Was someone after them?

The underbrush tugged at her robe, she yanked the bottom up and held onto it as she moved quickly. Several times she nearly tripped over the large roots that snaked around the ground. Green trees. She would never get used to that. Tyana couldn’t help but wonder what else was different about Earth. But mostly, she longed to be back home with her sister, and Ryker. Her heart lurched at the thought of Ryker. How could he really be dead? It wasn’t right. He’d been protecting her. Why hadn’t she insisted he come with her? She could have kicked out one of the arrogant crystyaleating elites, like Ylana, to make room for Ryker.

The ground blurred beneath her as she blinked back tears.

Her foot caught on a root and she nearly face planted, but managed to stay upright somehow.

She’d never understood the logic of the hierarchy in Lemuria. One thing she knew for sure, in this moment, she would much rather have a Relayer and a Warwalker on her side than a Fatewalker.

If she had anything to say about it, when she took her place as a Starwalker, there would be changes.

What about her parents? Were they also dead? No. They were survivors and obviously knew the rebellion was coming. More than likely they were holed away with the rest of the elders.

Pyan. Oh moons, she’d forgotten about Pyan. She knew her parents wouldn’t have thought to save her. She couldn’t bear to think about the senseless loss of life. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as she thought. Perhaps the warriors were able to save their city from complete destruction.

She splashed through a shallow stream, following the other students that had escaped to Earth with her. The water felt cool on her skin.

At least the water is the same color. The rest of this world was making her anxious with how different it was.

Once they passed the stream, the terrain completely changed. They were no longer on a path. Elder Lydia scrambled up the rough terrain effortlessly. Tyana was impressed by the older woman’s agility. She climbed as fast as possible, trying to keep up. Reaching up, she grabbed a hold of a branch to pull herself up. The branch gave way and she slid backwards, groaning. She couldn’t regain her balance and ended up tumbling quite a ways.

Great! Now she was even further behind. Ahead, Ylana looked behind her and snickered. Tyana wanted to knock the smug look off her face.

Clinging to a sapling, Tyana scurried back up. The leafy bushes scraped her skin, and her legs burned from the exertion. It was pretty pathetic how easily she was being shown up by an elder. And was it just her or was the air thicker on Earth? She could barely breathe. Or maybe she was just really out of shape.

How long had they been running through the woods? She’d lost track of time. The sun was still set pretty high in the sky so probably not as long as it felt. Of course, for all she knew, time could be different on Earth.

The adrenaline was wearing off, and exhaustion was setting in.

Just a little further, Elder Lydia yelled over her shoulder, as if she could sense Tyana’s body weakening.

By the stars she hoped that was true. The unknown was killing her. She didn’t even know if they were in danger and if so, from what or whom.

She felt like such a coward. Why had she listened to Ryker and run when her home was in the process of being destroyed? Just thinking about it turned her stomach. All because of the Lemurrian reverence for bloodlines over people and some prophecy she’d never even heard about.

Once they were rested, she planned on trying to open another portal to get back to Cyena. The psychic energy her Starwalking ability relied on was too drained to be worth a wag right now.

Tyana groaned when she realized they had to climb yet another slope. The undergrowth was thinning out, which she took as a good sign. Maybe there was civilization over the hill. Her throat was parched and her lips were cracking from the dry heat.

Picking up her pace, Tyana shot in front of Ylana. There was no way she was going to let that scallywag beat her to the top.

She almost tripped over her own feet when they crested the incline and cleared the brush. Oh. My. Stars!

Ylana slammed into the back of her. A collective gasp was heard throughout the group. Tyana stood speechless for several seconds staring at the orange and gold rock formations jutting out of a tan desert. The beauty was unlike anything she’d ever seen in the crystal strewn mountains outside the city where she spent her life. It literally stole her breath.

Yes, yes, it’s stunning, Elder Lydia said
