Wray Ardan

Wray Ardan lives on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with an artist, four cats, and a parrot. Many of her story ideas have been inspired by sculptures created by her partner, artist Steven Lee Smeltzer. "Life is a journey and we have always tried to remain open to new experiences. Steven and I have set up a creature shop for a computer animation company in Florida; worked as associate producers and set designers on a television pilot; had our characters featured in the young children's CGI movie." Inspired by the amazing young adults that are dedicated to having a positive impact on the world around us, Ardan started the blog, DaKine Teens+ that highlights teens that are Pono. Da Kine is Hawaiian Pidgin, meaning, "The Kind." Pono is Hawaiian for "Do the right thing."

Wow! This one is a heart thumping page turner! The first thing that struck me about Sweet Desire, Wicked Fate was how well written it is. Wray Arden has an exceptional imagination and communicates her unique story expertly. She has a way of combining a horrific story with a sense of humor if you can imagine that. It is downright clever the way to takes the reader the twists and turns of Jaden’s life. So much to experience for such a young girl. Any innocence and hope she had is threatened when she gets involved in a life that quickly becomes tumultuous. My favorite thing about this read is the sense of humor! I love books that make me laugh. Especially ones that are prepared with moments (a lot of them in this case) that are anything but funny. It is like going through some sort of 12 step program where you are confronted with every emotion in you bag (more than once). I guess what I am trying to say as this book, the story and the writing style are layered and dynamic. It truly offers everything I could possibly want and more.Along with all of that Arden does a phonetical job with character development. Once gets the sense that these characters are plucked right out of real life and I can relate to the relationship between she and her sister. Oh and by the way if you are skittish this one just might gives you nightmares for a few days. One bit of advice…make sure you read it when you have the day to spend on it, as you will not want to put this one down for anything. Luckily it is fat paced and entirely engaging so the time seems to pass by quickly! This one has to get a full 5 stars!
