Can Olivia hand her family over to the authorities? Read more in Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris.Hidden Agenda is the third novel in the Southern Crimes series by Lisa Harris. It was the first book I've read by Lisa Harris and worked fine as a stand-alone novel. The opening scene was riveting and the suspense kept me interested from that point on. The plot was well-written and there were twists that kept me wondering about identities and how situations would work out. I could relate to the theme about finding freedom by learning the truth. Reminded me that true freedom and healing can only come when secrets are exposed and dealt with.In conclusion, I enjoyed reading Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris. It's a keeper and I recommend it to fans of contemporary suspense novels.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Hidden Agenda, Southern Crimes Series by Lisa Harris Revell Christian Fiction, Suspense ISBN: 9780800721923 Michal Hunt is working undercover. He is presumed dead by all who know him and his cover has just been blown. He may never get the chance to see his family again. Ivan Hamilton, whom is deaf stumbled upon a murder and the soon to be execution of Michael. He was able to hide and read the villains lips so he knew he did not have long to act. He convinces his sister Olivia, that they must help save Michael. They will have to give up everything and betray their father to rescue him. In the mist of all the drama Olivia and Ivan discover they have lived a lie all their lives. The author Liz Harris did an outstanding job with this novel. The characters are realistic, faith filled and have strong morals. I found the story line to be intense with action around every corner. Be prepared to hold on and be kept at the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this 5 star book. If I had to take anything away from this novel it would be not everyone is given a second chance, so when you receive one make the most out of it. Hidden Agenda is book 3in the Southern Crimes Series. I have read book 2 Fatal Exchange and found it to be just as intense and enjoyable. They can read as a stand along or together as the series. I have not had the chance to read the first book Dangerous Passage but look forward to reading it. High-five to the author Liz Harris and publisher Revell for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.

5 stars ***** out of fiveRomantic SuspenseThis novel is part of the Southern Crimes series, following Book #1- Dangerous Passage and Book #2'- Fatal Exchange.Reading the series in this order might give you a deeper enjoyment, but since it has been over 6 months and many books and experiences since I read Book #2, I think it would be safe to say that this book can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel. Lisa Harris writes from a unique viewpoint as she has Spent over ten years living and writing from Mozambique, where she and her family serve as missionaries. Superbly told, with drama and flare, the author challenges the reader to become a part of the story. With her vivid imagery it is not difficult to become involved in the life threatening chase. Definitely a series that I will want to re-read while anxiously waiting for a new one to be published. Thank you to Lisa Harris and her father-in-law and Revell, a division of Baker Publishing for the opportunity to read this book. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own.

Since retiring I have had the pleasure of adding several new authors to my favorites list. The most recent being Lisa Harris. While I enjoy a wide variety of genres, mysteries will always compose the greatest number of entries in my reading log. Harris proves herself to be a masterful writer in this genre. Hidden Agenda is fast paced and action packed, with well written dialogue. Harris has added a touch of romance that serves the plot well without taking over. While the book reads like a movie script, the events seem plausible and the worlds of undercover police work and drug cartels well researched. While reading this, the third book of the Southern Crime series, the reader is aware that the previous books most likely focused on protagonist Michael Hunt's siblings, but the book works well as a stand alone read. While facts are revealed about the outcome of the first two mysteries, enough is left unsaid to pique rather than squelch the reader's interest in reading those books as well. A major theme of Hidden Agenda is doing the right thing even when it is not convenient or even safe to do so. A second, and no less important theme, deals with faith in the sovereignty of God and the freedom that comes from the truth He reveals. Michael Hunt is forced by circumstances to look at God in a different light, to trust in God's goodness and truth even when answers to his questions were not forthcoming. The reader is encouraged to trust in God to walk with him or her and to trust in the profound truth that God is good, even in the midst of trials. I highly recommend Hidden Agenda to both fans of mystery and romance novels. While the author probably wrote the book with women readers in mind, I believe men would enjoy it as well. I've suggested my husband add it to his to be read pile. I thank Revell Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for providing Hidden Agenda for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

    Hidden Agenda by Lisa Harris
4 stars (a bit more than 4, but not 4.5 so naturally rounded to 4)

Spoiler for the first one, but NOT major.

Michael Hunt, thought to have died in a fiery car crash eight months ago, is being beaten in the opening scene, as he has finally been uncovered as a cop by the drug cartel he had so successfully infiltrated. Olivia Hamilton is the daughter of a business man but has come to the island to see if the anonymous texts she has received alleging that her distant father is actually high up in an infamous drug cartel. When her deaf younger brother, Ivan, witnesses a murder, she is caught in a dilemma involving the fate of Michael Hunt, who is awaiting the return of the infamous Valez.

This is the third installment of the Southern Crimes Fiction, and I was hooked from the first line. This is absolutely a thriller from the start (and of course is a romantic thriller, but that's not from the start), nothing dragged for me, etc. Once again, just the stipulation that if you don't like anything remotely Christian, this isn't for you, but this is no cozy mystery, either.

Liked all the characters a lot. Was surprised at some of the characters and how they ended up. Look forward to reading many more books by Lisa Harris. These are so easy to follow and can be a bit suspenseful. These types of stories just need to keep coming. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion.

A Thrilling, Chilling, Maze of a Read...A very satisfying romantic suspense by Lisa Harris, Hidden Agenda zigged and zagged as Olivia, Ivan, and Michael rush headlong to escape the cartel. Indeed, it is hard to run in a straight line when the enemy can be anyone around you. Harris does a wonderful job of setting up a dangerous situation and then throwing the reader into doubt about just who the enemy is. I kept guessing and re-guessing!This book is also about learning to trust when the going gets tough. NOT only does Olivia have to decide to trust Michael or not, but she must choose whether she can trust God, as well."Michael," says Olivia, "What do you do when something horrible happens, when fear takes hold so hard you can hardly breathe?" "All I know to do is to dig deeper until you remember that God knows exactly what's happening at this very moment. He cares, and no matter what happens, He will never leave you..." Trust. Will we trust or will we freeze when the hard times come? That said, in a sinful world, trusting God does not guarantee safety. Who makes it out of this terror alive, and who becomes collateral damage? A thrilling, chilling read!!I gratefully received this book from the author for an honest review.

I greatly enjoyed book three in the Southern Crimes books and went back and picked up book one to read as well. ( I had already read book 2). I liked finding out how the mystery of what really happened with Michael finally gets resolved, but I didn't feel like I was missing something by not having read all the books. I also liked reading about settings that I was somewhat familiar from having visited that area of Georgia. Michael Hunt finds himself on the run after escaping death again and this time he doesn't fully know who is helping him, or who he can really trust. He finds himself on the radar again while trying to escape and his family and friends find out that he is still alive. This book has many twists and turns in it that will keep you wondering who to trust and how everything will work out. I also liked getting an update on characters from other books. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with twists and turns. I received this book free from the publisher for an honest review.

From the first pages of Lisa Harris’ Southern Crimes series, I have been anxiously waiting on any information on the death of Michael Hunt. His story line has been an integral part of the series begining with Dangerous Passage and continuing in the second book, Fatal Exchange. Finally my wait was over as I dug into the final installment in the series, Hidden Agenda. Michael is very much alive and working to blow the lid off a drug cartel. But his cover is blown and he is running for his life with the help of the two grown children of his money-laundering boss.Lisa Harris creates page-turning romantic suspense with relatable characters who find a place in the reader’s heart. I especially liked that though the main characters were Christians, they struggled with trust, feelings of loss and betrayal. And God’s presence is central to the action. The many escapes from dangerous situations were treated as His intervention rather than coincidence or the characters’ efforts. Themes include the consequences of secrets and the struggle to know what is true. Being a Georgia gal, I also appreciated the setting of the novel — from the Golden Isles through the streets of Atlanta and up to the North Georgia mountains.A good ending to a great series, I recommend Hidden Agenda. And though it could be read as a standalone, you really should read books 1 and 2 first.Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to Revell for a review copy. The opinions expressed are mine alone.)

This is the second book in this series that I have read, as with the first book you will not know whom to trust. Even the crooks can’t trust the crooks, bad cops, where can you find help, and as we put the first book away we meet Michael who is dead, well not really but he is on paper.Your heart will be in your throat, there is so much action from the first page on, you never know what will be next. Just when things begin to look safe, and the characters are able to rest, boom not so safe after all, which way do you turn?Caught up in this suspense are the children of one of the major cartels in this country. When we meet them I had the feeling they were innocent, and knew nothing of what their father was involved in. As we travel along in the story we meet other friends of this young man and young woman, can we trust their friends? Can we trust Michaels? I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and occasionally it fell with a loud thud. There are murders, explosions, hit and runs, torture, all in the name of greed, and power. How is in charge of all of this? We also end up with a bit of romance between Michael and Olivia, the daughter of the Cartel leader, and we have to think how much of a chance do they have?I so enjoyed this fast paced great read and want to read a lot more by this author Lisa Harris. Enjoy!I received this book through Revell Blogger’s Tour and was not required to give a positive review.

Hidden Agenda is most definitely a thrill ride from beginning to end. I loved the first two books in the Southern Crimes series and this third and final installment did not disappoint. I could not put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen with Michael and Olivia. I really appreciated how their faith in God kept them going in the midst of many horrifying situations. If you are looking for a romantic suspense novel that forces the reader to constantly question who can be trusted, what secrets are going to be revealed, etc. then Hidden Agenda is the book for you!If you have not read the first two in the series yet, I would definitely recommend you start with those first since this book does provide updates on characters from the first two books. This story picks up right where Fatal Exchange left off.I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
