Angelique LaFontaine

My name is Angelique LaFontaine. I was born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and live in the country about an hour outside of Dallas, TX. I am employed as a Mechanical Engineer but spend much of my time painting and writing I have been building my work collection for the last 15 years and it includes paintings, sketches, poetry compilations, novels, digital short stories and much more. I do not limit my writing to one specific genre but I tend to lean more toward fiction fantasy. I love the idea of not having boundaries when writing. If you can think it, in my story, it could happen. In 2008, I released my first poetry compilation. This collection was entitled Walking Before You Run. It is a collection of 75 poems that I've written over the years. In 2010 I released Sandstone and Mirrors: The Crossover. I have many more books and short stories that I am preparing to release. Besides writing, I love to paint and sketch. I enjoy working with acrylic mainly but from time to time, work with other mediums. Currently my work is being displayed in the Little Elm Library in Little Elm TX. It has been rotated throughout different locations in the Dallas area. Please see my website at www.AngeliqueArtWork.com for any updates.

Lucya panted heavily as she tried to catch her breath. The air was cold and damp. Her heart was racing and felt as though at any moment, would burst right out of her chest. She leaned over while holding her sides. She had no idea how long she had been running and no idea how far she had gotten. She looked behind her but all she saw was a thick line of evergreens that were dusted with a light fog that had rolled in. She stood up and looked out in front of her and tried to listen carefully. She knew that there was a small fishing village (not even on a map so small) not too far away; if she could hear the water, she knew she was close; so she held her breath and listened.

Lucya was a tour guild in the northern region of Russia. The Ural Mountains were a mountain range that ran north and south in western Russia. It was an area often referred to as European Russia as it divided the regions between Russia and Europe; the area that Lucya was a guild for the area at the base of the Urals just off the coast of the Arctic Ocean.

Lucya stumbled upon this profession; she had never intended for it to be a way of life for her. A number of years ago, her husband had started offering guided hunting trips for sportsman who wanted to participate in large wild game hunting. The wild game in that area was home to many Siberian animals such as Elk, Brown Bear, Lynx and Wolverines; just to name some of the more popular larger game that’s hunted. Lycya’s husband made a very good living for the couple doing that but his tours took an interesting turn when the large game hunting tours started to steer more into fanatics wanting tours through the heavily wooded mountainous area to track the infamous Siberian Yetti that was rumored to exist in that region. The fanatics that often hired Lucya’s husband were generally very wealthy individuals that quickly threw caution to the wind and were willing to attempt great risks as an attempt to be the one and only person in the world to provide tangible proof that this mythical creature existed.

Lucya had lived in the mountainous area her entire life and had never seen neither hide nor hair of this mythical creature. However, she figured that ethics didn’t play a part in this matter because from her own observation, it wasn’t a Yetti that these people were truly after, it was an adventure that they could take home with them and share with their friends and family.

The area that Lucya and her husband lived in was in the northern section of the mountain range. It was only maybe about 10 miles south of the Kara Sea; which fed into the Arctic Ocean. There was always a constant chill in the air and a dampness that, if a person is not used to, could chill you to the bone.

That chill had eventually gotten the best of Lucya’s
