About this ebook
"Both Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Who would feel right at home in this tale that begs to be made into a movie. A thoroughly enjoyable romp. . . .Simply smashing." -Kirkus Reviews
"A terrific blend of horror and mystery . . . a quick read packed with twists, turns, and just enough gore to keep things interesting. A great choice for horror fans." - School Library Journal
"Suspense and adventure in abundance make for a thrilling read." -Publishers Weekly "A rip-snorter of an adventure novel . . . super-fun non-literary flat-out fast-paced adventure." -Bookshelves of Doom (online)
What starts as an ordinary picket-pocketing incident in Victorian London unites three teens against a madman. Eddie is the pickpocket; George is an assistant at the British Museum; Elizabeth has a nose for trouble-and all of them are being hunted by Augustus Lorimore. Lorimore is a sinister factory owner, a villain bent on reanimating the dead, both humans and dinosaurs-and one of each is already terrorizing the streets of London. It's up to Eddie, George, and Elizabeth to stop Lorimore's monsters . . . or die trying.
Recalling the classic horror of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the gothic chills of Caleb Carr's The Alienist, Justin Richard's novel is a historic thrill ride that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A good read! A pickpocket, science, magic, Victorian London. A clergyman's daughter, an apprentice clockmaker, horror, mystery, and a touch of romance and humor. What's not to like?
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5it was highly confusing. What started of as mysterious and thrilling , kind of got lost by the end of it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Victorian Flair with a Hightech ScareThis is a fabulous blend of mystery and horror for young adults who would like a Victorian scare with high-tech flair. The story was fast paced, and I was riveted to my seat from start to finish in one sitting. I am a big fan of the author's Invisible Detective series and found this another great title to enjoy. Like in the Invisible Detective series, the plot mixes a nice blend of endearing characters with some very nasty villains and lots of action and mystery to keep one turning the pages without stopping. . Two thumbs up for this creepy suspense novel!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5George Archer, an employee at the British Museum, gets sucked into intrigue on the streets of Victorian London, and must join a street urchin, a young woman with dreams of the theater, and Sir William, the head of a mysterious department at the museum, in order to keep a collector of dead things from achieving his horrifying goal. Not as great as I heard, but still a pretty interesting read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a fun, face paced read, set in Victorian England in the British Museum. George, Eddie, and Elizabeth race against time to discover the secret coveted by an evil man who has discovered the secret to creating a semblance of life after death and wants to use his knowledge and the artifact in question to take over the world. Will he succeed or will they stop him in time?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was great fun! An evil Victorian industrialist has learned how to animate machines using dead bodies and dead body parts. He is trying to learn the secret of how to reproduce these zombie-like creatures. Our heroes: a boy, young women and young man, along with an older gentleman, have to stop them. It's a page turner for sure!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good, but not great. Although the plot is rather imaginative, the novel starts much stronger than it ends. The beginning is very atmospheric and "Londony," but Richards abandons his descriptive flow in favor of quick plot advancement after the first chapter. Still, worth reading.
