About this ebook
'A fairytale of hip-hop success ... teens will enjoy the thrilling music fantasy, while many will identify with the smart, talented boys who grow up quickly and rescue themselves' Booklist
An electrifying novel from hugely popular performance poet and novelist Benjamin Zephaniah, exploring the rap music scene, inequality and three boys caught up in it
Just what do you do with talent from the wrong side of town? Benjamin Zephaniah draws on his own experiences with school and the music business to create a novel that speaks with passion and immediacy about the rap scene.
Ray has trouble at home, and he has trouble at school – until he's permanently excluded and ends up sleeping on the floor of a record shop. What happens to a boy like Ray? If he's lucky, maybe he gets a chance to shine.
The story of three boys who aren't easy. They don't fit in. They seem to attract trouble. But they know what they want, and they've got the talent to back it up ...

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/518 Nov 2010 (charity shop)Based rather on wish-fulfilment but with some hard-hitting plot points and strong morals, this YA novel follows the fortunes of three lads who want to form a hip-hop group. Excluded from school, they end up at a teaching centre and following their dream, although things quickly sour when gang warfare intervenes. The plot was not that believeable, but pacy, attractive and a good read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After reading this book, I discovered some negatives and postives in this book as in swearing, disrespect, love and music. You might be wondering what I mean. But this book is filled with lots of situations. There are three boys who are a gang and lead a life with lots of problems, violence, rapping and music! They don't like to be in school but wanting to be a part of a profession in rapping and music creating. They don't care about anything but their friends and music. More is being included in this book if you wish to read this book. I have found this book really interesting though it may had some cons in it. I would allow teens from ages 13-20 to read this book since it has some bad language that is not as applicable to young age group. Thanks for reading my review. :)
