At the age of five this young girl suffered a loss which was to have a massive impact upon the rest of her life. Her innocence, loving nature and incredible naivety combined with her natural beauty where taken advantage of by family and strangers. After escaping from attempted sexual abuse she falls into the hands of an occupying force who torture and violate her and leave her for dead. Rescued by a local family she is ultimately, after many hardships, restored to her relatives through whom she meets a foreign national. Domestic violence leading to attempted suicide, near insanity and the contemplation of murder follow.

In these days of self-publishing, when many are writing memoirs and autobiographies you may wonder why I have decided to join them. I chose to write about my life because, after many years of hearing other people’s tales, I came to realise my life has been anything but ‘normal’. My story has light amusing incidents, the writing of which made me laugh out loud. However, overall I found it difficult because of the many sad and painful memories it brought back. To make it easier for you the reader, I have chosen to share my tale in an abridged, easy read, dialogue based manner. I anticipate there will be three short books in the series. My grandparents and parents also had dramatic lives. I intend to also write their stories in due course. At present only the first book in the abridged series is published with Smashwords. ‘Tears of Innocence’ covers my early years and the awful times I endured subsequent to them. WWII experiences are included. The title is ‘Negative Beauty’ indicating some of the consequences of inheriting a small portion of my mother’s outstanding beauty and hopefully some of her wonderful character.
