    It was Christmas and for the first time in Willard’s thirty four year old life, the scenery actually looked like the season it should be depicting. The bustle and concrete of London was gone, replaced by tall pines and snow covered ferns. It was a scene straight out of a Christmas card. A log cabin in the woods deep in the middle of nowhere, a roaring fire inside, complete with a sumptuous decorated Christmas tree and Willard with his immediate family by his side.

    This Christmas holiday was not just to be the pinnacle of his year; it was a notification to him and others he had really arrived. No longer was he merely a well paid employer of a law firm, now he was a partner. A very well paid partner. This week long retreat had been expensive considering it was just a log cabin miles from anywhere with only basic amenities, but it was the solitude and scenery they were paying for.

    It’s quite a scene isn’t it, Annette said draping her arms over him, as he gazed out onto the blanket of snow that was covering the ground.
