    The Witch’s Gift

Ginny woke in an empty bed. The argument she had with her husband Jack still lingered in the air. They’d had arguments before: however, recently the fights had been getting more heated and intense. After 15 years of marriage, her husband told her he was bored with her. He had demanded she change or he’d leave her. Jack wanted more variety, different positions, and wanted to try new things. Ginny would ask what kind of things he wanted her to do, but he would never elaborate. One night, to Ginny’s surprise, as soon as Jack had gotten into bed, he started a fight.

Her mind kept replaying the scene of her heartbreak over and over again. Jack had never acted like this before.

It was really difficult for Ginny to concentrate all day; besides being tired, she was completely distracted. She just wanted the day to be over, it seemed to drag on and on.

After work Ginny rushed home. She checked the answering machine, no messages. By night fall she still hadn’t heard from Jack. She sighed. ‘Maybe Jack just needs some time alone,’ she thought.

After a quiet dinner alone, she went upstairs to get ready for bed. As she sat at her vanity brushing her hair, she noticed Jack’s closet door partly open. She was about
