- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Fools Gold is a difficult book to follow with characters that are also difficult to understand. The plot is not understood and the book comes to an immediate end. The point of the book is lost on the listener. Even the author's remarks at the end of the book do not unscramble the purpose or story of the book. The book receives a generous two stars which really is just being kind.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn't know this was book 3 in a series when I picked it up! and if I had known I probably would have put it back. I think the story would have made a little more sense if I'd read the previous two, and the characters weren't particularly well-drawn, perhaps characterisation had all happened earlier too. The plot was a bit weird, and plenty of loose ends weren't tied up, so I expect they will be explored later in the series, but I won't be sticking around to find out.
