About this ebook

From the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us comes a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance.

At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.

Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbour, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. "Beat, beat, pause.Contract, expand.Inhale, exhale." WOW. Once again Colleen Hoover wrote a beautiful book that I couldn't put down. From the very first page the story captivates you. It draws you in and doesn't release you until the very end. Everything about this book was lovely and just simply astounding. Colleen Hoover always creates perfect characters for her book. Sydney Blake and Ridge Lawson were probably one of her best. The characters were well developed and even unexpected. The book was told from both of their perspectives, which really made a book even more vivid. I loved both of the main characters. Sydney was a strong character, even after what happened to her she still found herself smiling and all because of Ridge. Ridge is probably the kind of guy that any girl would fall for, so I don't blame Sydney for doing just that. Ridge is not your typical bad-boy, he is actually really nice, thoughtful and just a really good-hearted person. Of course he is also pretty attractive(; "Nothing in my life has ever so good, yet hurt so achingly bad." The relationship between Sydney and Ridge can be described as complicated. They had an attraction for each other, but they also had a lot of obstacles and reasons why they just can't be together. The way their relationship was written and everything that what happened between them, really showed their true feeling. It also makes you feel for them. Don't you love those books that just make you feel for the characters and make you fall in love with them? Well this is the book. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves NA and Contemporary Romance. This book will definitely make you care and love it till the last second and even after. Also I can guarantee you will never read anything like this.

This book was so intense. It made my heart feel so warm, then it tore it up into a million pieces, and then it glued it back together. Truly unreal.

Amazing book. It digs deep into emotional places you would not even dream existed and plants itself in your heart. Colleen Hoover is an amazing writer as you can so easily find yourself in the characters shoes. You feel what they feel; the love, heartbreak and the uncertainty. I would recommend this book to anyone who believes that love even in it's most innocent and misguided form will always find you in the long run.

I finished this book over a month ago but have waited to review it for several reasons. First of all, this book completely blew me away and I wasn't sure how to write a review without sounding like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons (thanks to Professor McGonagall for that one). Second of all, I really haven't been in the mood to write reviews this year so I've been putting them off. Third, there are so many twists in this story I find it hard to write a review without spoiling anything! But do not worry! I have a passionate hatred for spoilers so you will not find any spoilers in this review... just vague gushing about the mastery of Colleen Hoover's story telling abilities.

I loved November 9 and then I loved Ugly Love... but this one just blows those two out of the water. The amount of feels (and intensity of the feels) are enough to knock you on your back clutching a box of kleenex. The characters are so well thought out and described. They each have their own strong personalities. The twists that CoHo weaves into this story are incredible. I totally didn't see any of them coming and they added such dimension to a book you may go into thinking is just another NA romance novel. The struggle these characters go through feels real and heartbreaking. Oh man, even just thinking about the book now has me wanting to re-read it. Also, to add yet another dimension.... there is a SOUNDTRACK that goes along with the book! Griffin Peterson worked with Colleen Hoover to create the soundtrack featuring the music that Sydney and Ridge write together throughout the novel. I highly recommend this book.

I am completely incapable of writing a review that would justice to this book. Fan- freaking-tastic...as usual. And since Colleen Hoover is an auto buy author for me I had no doubt that I would love the crap out of this book...and I did.

Beautiful hearts. Beautiful songs. Beautiful story.

When Sydney finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her roommate, she punches them both and leaves without money or a place to stay. Fortunately, Ridge, the guy in the apartment across the courtyard, has a free room and doesn't require rent as long as Sydney writes lyrics for his songs. He's a musician and also deaf. He also has a girlfriend, Maggie, but she doesn't live with him thus setting up Sydney and Ridge to fall into all sorts of angst.I loved Slammed and Confess, but this book just made me desperate to finish it so I could archive it off my reader. Sydney mostly cries or punches people, neither of which are redeeming characteristics. Ridge is a bit more likable only because of the way he handles his deafness. His behavior towards Maggie and Sydney was pretty poor. He seems to like strays (Maggie has an issue that causes him to stay with her though he insists it's because he loves her so much) and Sydney is just a big mess who begs for someone to take care of her which is right up Ridge's alley. For all the protestations of love and honesty and soulmates and rending hearts, this was just a pretty f'd up situation, made even worse because of the reason Sydney is staying there to begin with - her boyfriend cheated on her! With her roommate - which only makes her attempts at friendship with Maggie look worse.Maggie was the only decent person in the book though Warren and Bridgette, the other roommates, provide some light moments. I was glad Maggie handled Ridge the way she did. She's a strong independent woman who deserved much better. Though I'm pretty sure if Sydney ever gets herself together at all, Ridge will be right back on Maggie's doorstep. The other problem I had was the lyrics sprinkled throughout the book. Lyrics are usually just bad poems unless you can put them to music (see Avett Brothers' songs in Slammed). Since I had no context for these lyrics, I just found them annoying. I did find the link to the music afterward and listened which helps and is the only reason I didn't make this review a one star. All in all, I guess I have strong opinions about Ms. Hoover's books. This one just was one I disliked.

I read one other, earlier book by Colleen Hoover, and while I thought it was pretty good, Maybe Someday says to me this author has arrived. The improvement in her writing was obvious. This story was full of Angst—with a capital A—and I loved every moment of it. The whole element of forbidden fruit kept me on the edge of my seat. But I also loved the hilarious pranks the friends pulled on each other, and Ridge and Sydney's lyrical writing sessions.I enjoyed reading about the way Sydney and Ridge came together, and how they learned to communicate with each other around Ridge’s hearing impairment. Ridge made for a wonderful male role model, handicap and all. In fact, all the characters were well-written.I was really torn about the love triangle. I really wish Hoover hadn’t made Maggie such a convincing, likeable character. It was beyond sweet how much Ridge loved her. Although Ridge tries to remain honorable to her, the chemistry between him and Sydney smokes, and there was a point I was certain Maggie was going to get killed off because I couldn’t see any other way for the situation to resolve itself. Thankfully, nobody got axed.I was surprised at the lack of sex in this book. However, the story is filled with moments of intense sexual tension. I didn’t miss the sex. That was actually refreshing.Speaking of sexual tension, there’s a scene where Ridge comes to Sydney’s apartment and writes messages on parts of her with a pen, and then kisses them…. Woo baby! I felt the heat.My only beef with this book was the ending. I understand that Hoover was trying to give the characters space, to get over what happened with Maggie, so they could come together without the baggage, but I raced through the majority of this book, and crawled through the last few chapters. It was too drawn out.Though I didn't love the end, the story was so engaging for the most part, I hated putting it down, and couldn't wait to pick it up again. That rates highly with me.

This is the 1st book i've read of the author Colleen Hoover, and I must say She is a Genius !! OMG, the Idea of Characters writing lyrics about their feeling, *Love,heartache,honesty,lying,...* and then to hear those words so full of emotions come to life (with the help of Griffin Peterson) is an experience I'll never forget.

WHY HAVEN'T I READ ANY OF COLLEEN HOOVER'S BOOKS UNTIL NOW? Oh my god, what a rollercoaster ride! My feels don't quite know what to feel at the moment. These feels are the kind of feels that feel kind of ... feely. I need Hoover's other books STAT.

Colleen Hoover totally did it again!!!! I finished the book over 12 hours ago and I am still reeling from it. The chemistry between Ridge and Sydney is unbelievable. This book hooked me from page one! I felt like I was right there listening to them write and play the songs. Having the soundtrack a few weeks before the book only intensified the feelings and emotions that went with the story. Truly a must read!!!!

    A-ma-zing.. It didn't freaking disappoint.

Sidney felt betrayed when she found out that her boyfriend and her bestfriend had been seeing each other behind her back. So she left the apartment where she and her bestfriend lives.

Enter Ridge. A neighbor. An acquaintance. He made Sidney stay in his place.

Ridge is deaf. Holy crap. I did not thought about that at all in the beginning. (But boy, that didn't made me like him any less. It made me love him even more. Feels.) He has a girlfriend named Maggie that is also deaf.

Sydney and Ridge helped each other write songs. But as days pass by, they can't deny the attraction that they have for each other. But they know they should never be together. They should never make Maggie a Sydney..

And then the rest is an excellent, heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, captivating history.

Ridge is imperfectly perfect. You could never find a more awesome book boyfriend than him. ;) (or until there's a new spectacular book hoho)

I don't need to go all fangirl over Collen Hoover. I have already done that.

Ok, maybe I do. Holy crapballs. Colleen Hoover can write the HELL out of books.

Now That I am among the living again after hiding in my bathroom last so I could read in peace, I am able to able to somewhat process the pure masterpiece that is this book. My apologies to my husband and daughter for being MIA and for the snappy "not NOW, Mommy's reading!". Some books are just that important.

    Ok, let's discuss this book.

I felt like I ran a marathon after reading it. I put it down and panted because through it all, my anxiety level was through the roof. I wanted one thing, then I felt like an jerk for wanting that so I changed my mind. Then I knew that my changed mind was wrong and I changed it back. It was like Wimbledon in my head. Back and forth, back and forth. Until I just gave up and just accepted that Colleen Hoover wouldn't do me wrong and would take the book where it needed to go.

    And she did.

    Masterfully.

I am not going to go into the whole basis of the story, you can read the blurb for yourself.

What I am going to say is this:

If you want to fall in love with characters. If you want to be absolutely GRIPPED by a story. If you want to FEEL incredible emotions. If you want to laugh, cry, and be blown away. Read this book.

    Seriously.

    Read this book NOW.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Colleen Hoover for making my life a bit better through her writing. I honestly am so thankful to her for introducing me to characters that stay in my head and pop up from time to time to make me smile, think, or just remember. I love these people running around in my brain and I love Colleen Hoover for sharing them with me.
