About this ebook

Despite differences and difficulties, love is always capable of finding a way to take root and bloom.

Ivan Vinokourov wasn’t sure he’d ever get over losing the love of his life to another man. However, after he’s kidnapped, the woman sent to rescue him stirs emotions he’d believed were gone forever.

Bailey Hyde is an assassin for Theta Corps—that’s what she does, so she doesn’t understand why she’s being sent in for a retrieval. The man she’s tasked with rescuing is different, and she finds herself attracted to him. He’s a scientist, not the type she usually goes after. Still, he intrigues her.

Despite her misgivings about being involved with someone she’s rescued, they begin a relationship. He’s amazing yet they continue to butt heads over her work. When her past is revealed, Bailey isn’t sure of anything anymore, even Ivan. Can what they have withstand the fact that they are polar opposites? Or are they destined to go back to being alone?

I'm a huge Aliyah Burke fan, and I have enjoyed all her books until now. I was excited to find this was a long book, but soon regretted it. I found it long and "heavy",which is not at all romantic for me. All the scientific talk took the spark off it for me. Bailey being an assassin also didn't work for me, I just couldn't shake it. The end where she does an about turn and makes changes that Ivan has to fall in line with, I didn't like. I also wish Bailey had decided what she does isn't conducive with married life and raising a family. I wanted her to definitively say it and for Ivan to encourage it. But as it stands it feels to me as though she may continue with her " career" and Ivan seems fine with it. The other thing that bugged me was Bailey being (I assume) American but being a child of the world and feeling this affinity with France.- granted, she needed all these house for her "job". There was no hint at what age they both are, something I like to know. The whole thing didn't mesh together for me, and I couldn't wait to be done with it. I definitely won't ever read it again.
