About this ebook

The warm and enchanting novel from the bestselling author of ‘Going Home’ .

Laura Foster is a hopeless romantic. It is her most endearing characteristic, yet consistently leads her into trouble. Friends and family look on with amused tolerance – until Laura’s inability to tell reality from romantic dreams causes betrayal and a broken heart.

Taking refuge in Norfolk, Laura is bitterly aware that her rose-tinted glasses have to go. She swears off men, and all things romantic, for good – until she meets Nick, the estate manager of a huge stately home. But Nick has a secret too. And it’s one that Laura, however much she tries, can’t get past her prejudice about.

Just as she was stubbornly a die-hard romantic, so Laura is stubborn about there being no future for her and Nick. But will he manage to change her mind?

Excellent storytelling despite the length of the book. A real example of good writing

Laura is having an affair with Dan. Dan promised her that he would break up with his girlfriend, Amy if Laura gave him some times. And Laura… She would do anything to be with him, including cancelling her programs with her friends, going to work late and expanding her credit cards limit for a vacation she plan on going with Dan. But when Laura found out that Amy, Dan’s girlfriend is pregnant, Laura knew that there is nothing she could do. She broke up with him and agreed to go on a vacation with her parents. During her visit to the Chartley Hall, she met Nick, the sexy, rugged estate manager. But it turns out that Nick wasn’t who she thought he is...I have a love-hate relationship with the Laura. At didn’t like her at first. But when I started to like her, she would do something that makes me dislike her again. And there were times when I thought of her as an idiot. I think it’s okay to have your head in the clouds. But when you jeopardize your life, career and anything else for the sake of a guy, I think that it’s really stupid. However, I still enjoy the book. There are a few moments that made me smile, and a few jokes that made me laugh out loud. Overall, A Hopeless Romantic is a light and fun read.

Heavy chick lit.Could have been 100 pages shorter - no need for this story to string along for 300+ pages.I felt like Laura was a moron-always falling for the wrong guy, falling in love at the drop of a hat --- and then "all of a sudden" she turns her life around and meets - dare I say - a "real" prince.

first of all, for the kind of book it is, its really long, (not really daunting for me, but worth mentioning.) I did think it didn't necessarily require 3 "parts" to tell her story, but what do I know. Laura, a hopeless romantic, gets bit on the ass from the choices she makes in her love life...gay guys, commitment phobes, guys who just show up for some action....you get the idea. When her life seems to fall apart based on her actions in her love life, Laura makes drastic changes. Tossing out her romantic books (the Jane Austens had me gasping in virtual pain) and romantic movies (again, I cringed at what was tossed), all to implement a "Mrs.Danvers, no nonsense approach in her life". Too much the other way, and Lauras still an idiot. So she rights herself again, has some realisations and adjusts her life accordingly. It wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was pretty darn good. I just wish Laura could have come to this realisation 100 pages back.
