About this ebook
Volume Three of the Silver Valley series!
A decade of storms, droughts and wildfires have ruined the nation's infrastructure and left most of the country dry and shattered. The end of oil has stopped food distribution, and America has returned to a horrifying state of nature, where the strong prey on the weak.
The New West is every bit as wild and lawless as the Old West.
Now, Anna and John have rescued Sophie from the clutches of Corbett's crew, but no one is out of danger yet. Corbett and his crew are soon on the trail, hunting the trio down and doing whatever it takes to find them.
While John is pursued across the countryside, the two girls return to the small town of Meridian, only to find that Corbett has brought his entire gang for a final showdown.
And Wayne, Corbett's psychotic second-in-command, has his eyes open for the girls...and is willing to do anything necessary to finally get them.
Will they be able to survive the deadly threats, both from humans and from Mother Nature??
The wind gets worse and the storm arrives for everyone in this explosive final chapter!
This is the New West. This is Silver Valley
Praise for Silver Valley:
"I’ve read the whole series and loved it...I loved that it’s full of thrills that have nothing to do with the supernatural, terrorists, etc. It’s kind of an old-fashioned story set in modern times. Great story. Great characters. Great thrills and pacing throughout. Loved it."
"I’m a big fan of Noah Porter. He has a great writing style that is really engaging and easy to read. I especially love this series because of the juxtaposition of old and new...the whole series is a quick, engaging read and well worth your time."

Silver Valley (Volume Three) - Noah Porter
~ Volume Three ~
Anna woke up in a bed she didn't know. The sheets and blankets had the special funk of not being washed in a long, long time. The room, with its badly faded floral wallpaper and cream-colored curtains, was unfamiliar. Her entire body hurt. Badly, especially her legs and lower back. She felt parched and starved as well. Then she thought of Sophie.
Anna didn't want to turn her head to look. She simply began moving her arm, reaching out beside her, searching for her recovered lover. When her fingers found a warm body in the bed next to her, Anna let out a sigh of relief. It was true. It had happened. The night time rescue, killing those men, running through the woods, being chased and shot at, it hadn't all been some long, horrible dream. It had really happened. She'd found her.
Her muscles ached, but Anna turned on her side. Sophie was lying on her back, asleep. Anna watched her, admiring the smooth, peaceful expression on her face. It was wonderful that she could sleep like that after the horrors she'd been through: being attacked in her own home and then watching it burn, being carried away by a gang of madmen, and being held for days before finally being violently rescued. How was she able to look so peaceful?
Anna moved closer to the woman beside her and embraced her, hugging tightly. Sophie stirred. She looked frightened when she opened her eyes, but her expression softened and she smiled when she saw Anna and realized they were safe. They kissed on the lips and lay there, holding each other.
Where are we?
In the old man's house, I think,
Anna replied. You were a bit out of it by the time we got here. So was I, for that matter. I think he gave us his bed.
My legs feel terrible,
Sophie said, moving and stretching her aching limbs.
Same here. It was a thirty-mile bike ride. But we made it. And we're safe now.
I don't think we're completely safe from those guys,
Sophie said. I don't think anyone is.
Anna swallowed. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to,
she began, but when you were there in that hotel, did they... Did those men...
They didn't touch me,
Sophie answered, presuming the question. They kept saying that I was a present for that guy Corbett, and he never showed up. And because I was supposed to be for him, none of them would touch me. Those guys all act really tough, but they're all scared shitless of Corbett, whoever he is. They just kept me tied to that stupid bed all day and all night. They let me go for a little walk to use the bathroom a couple times a day, and outside of that, I had to sit on that stupid bed. I was going crazy.
Did they feed you?
Yeah, some boiled plant stuff. I think it was just cooked weeds. They don't have enough food for themselves, and I don't think they have any idea how to grow anything.
"They've been stealing from all the towns around here
