EXCERPT

Brennan did not know how long Charlotte slept but he was still there patiently waiting and guarding her like a dog when she finally opened her eyes and she smiled sleepily at him. He had to gasp as he thought how she looked more beautiful than the prettiest sunrise.

"Hi..." she whispered, her voice sexy from sleep.

He smiled. "Hi."

"How long have I been out?"

"An hour or two, I think?"

"You think? You've been here all the time? You don't look like you've slept."

"No, I haven't. I love watching you sleep. You haven't looked so... healthy and well, and peaceful."

She seemed to observe herself. "I didn't have any dreams, good or bad. I just slept very deeply. Hmm." Again, she dimpled at him. "Maybe because my guardian angel's with me."

For a moment, Brennan couldn't speak, feeling unbelievably stunned at the opportunity that seemed to have dropped on his very lap.

Then, "But I am an angel. Or... was an angel."

Charlotte stared at him, and then she laughed and moved to straddle him. Since they were still both completely naked under the blankets, his body reacted all at once.

"Uh... Charlotte... I see you've recovered," he said, his voice suddenly hoarse as he held her waist. Then he gasped as she wriggled and giggled.

"Oh, yes." Her eyes opened wide, mockingly. "Oohhh... and I can feel you've fully recovered, too."
