About this ebook

Australian Labradoodles have everything you could want in a dog! They're loving, loyal, friendly and trustworthy. Just like any dog you say? How about allergy friendly, non-shedding, excellent companion and service dogs? They have personality plus, and are quirky, funny, gorgeous bundles of fur. Intelligent and easy to train, I quickly came up with 12 good reasons to bring not one, but two Australian Labradoodles into my life.

That's right, Australian Labradoodles. This book talks about all the fun stuff and the factual stuff that you need to know about Australian Labradoodles, which are different from a cross between a Labrador and a Poodle. The book makes the distinction between Labradoodles and Australian Labradoodles and tells how Australian Labradoodls came to be the Miniature, Medium and Standard dogs they are today. Fleece and Wool coats are explained as are all the many and diverse coat colours.

Australian Labradoodles have their own guardian Association whose vision and hope it is that in the not too distant future the breed will be recognised as a purebred in its own right.

Didn't I say Australian Labradoodles have everything you could want in a dog?

Leonie van de Vorle

Leonie van de Vorle was born in New Zealand in 1954 to Dutch immigrant parents. She was a teenager during the Vietnam War and Woodstock era and then travelled through Europe in a combi-van in her early twenties. Her experiences during those years influenced her first book "The Odd One Out, Primitive Poems from The Past", published in 2012. Leonie returned to New Zealand in 1976 when tragedy struck her family with the death of her younger brother, and only sibling, in a car accident. Remaining in New Zealand, Leonie attained a BSc, married and became a mother of three, but it would be twenty five years before she would write again. In 1990 Leonie moved to the east coast of Australia with her young family. There she became a Natural Therapies Practitioner, and more recently began tracing her family history. Her interests encouraged her to write again, including publishing her brother's poems "Salamanca Summer", in 2013. In October 2013 four short stories in the "Winnie and Hunny Speak" Series were published. They are the hilarious and fascinating accounts of Winnie and Hunny's lives, Leonie's two Labradoodles, and told by them. Leonie now writes full time. She is currently working on several new books including a series on her combi-van travels, and a memoir of breakdown and recovery.

    PART TWO: THE FACTS

    The Australian Labradoodle

    BOOKS BY THE AUTHOR

    INTRODUCTION

I have two Labradoodles; miniature chocolate Hunny and Winnie. They are fabulous, fantastic, and very, very funny. Winnie is an extrovert. She is active, inquisitive and talkative and, she is very intelligent. Sista Hunny is calm and collected, and takes life with one eye open and one closed. As far as I’m concerned, and many others would also agree, Australian Labradoodles have everything you might want in a dog. You could say, on the one hand, that they are almost all dogs in one, but conversely, that in itself makes them unique as they stand alone in their own right.

Let me explain when I say ..."Australian Labradoodles have everything"...

    1. Personality plus: they are intelligent, active, loving, sociable, playful, quirky.

    2. Family friendly.

    3. Excellent companion dog.

    4. Allergy friendly.

    5. Non-shedding.

    6. Easy to train, great service dogs.

    7. A Breed Standard.

    8. An Accredited Association.

    9. Bloodlines.

    10. 3 sizes; Miniature, Medium and Standard.

    11. Two (desired) coat types: Fleece and Wool.

    12. Many coat colours to choose from.

Of course you’ve noticed that I’m talking about Australian Labradoodles. I’ll explain about that in a moment, and that I’ve listed the fun stuff first and the factual stuff later. Hunny and Winnie will help me, as they’re the experts on themselves and since they are the fun in my life, that’s where I thought this book would start.

Now, when I talk about Labradoodles, I’m talking about Australian Labradoodles. There is a difference you see between Australian Labradoodles and Labradoodles and it’s not simply that some are born in Australia and others aren’t.
