Julie anxiously hurried around her dorm room getting ready to go over to her boyfriend’s place. Even though she and Dave had been going out for over a year, it wasn’t like she was trying to make a good impression or anything. She had already done that, or at least she hoped she had. No, the reason why everything had to be just right was that she was sure Dave was going to ask her to marry him. The notion both excited and frightened her.

Her roommate, Josie, looked on with amusement.

So, why all the fuss? Don’t you see this guy all the time? the slender redhead said as she lit a cigarette. Not taking her eyes off Julie, she reclined back on her bed, getting comfortable in the tight leather pants she intended to wear to a club a little later that evening. The pants fit better if she put them on a little earlier than the rest of her outfit. This way, they had plenty of time to contour to her body. Wearing only the pants and a bra, she looked like something out of a perfume ad. Actually, she had modeled a few times, but it wasn’t for anything like that. Her pictures had been featured in such gentlemen’s magazines as Scoundrel and Black Bra and Panties. She had never told Julie about that stuff, though. She didn’t think Julie would understand. And, more than likely, she was right.

Julie sighed. I think Dave is going to ask me to marry him tonight.

Josie rolled her eyes. Being a party girl, she never really understood how Julie could be such a prude. Especially considering the fact that Julie was such a knockout. She had never met anyone so sweet and naïve. And so pretty. No, pretty wasn’t the right word for her. It didn’t do her justice. She was absolutely gorgeous. She was the kind of girl who always got the attention of everyone in the room, male or female. Josie often found herself staring at the pretty brunette. Julie’s blue eyes were breathtaking and her body was amazing. She was just perfect. This was something coming from a girl like Josie who was no slouch in the looks department herself.

Josie sometimes had to make herself look away so Julie wouldn’t think she was creepy. She often had fantasies where she would be on a photo shoot with Julie and she would pull out a double-headed dildo and they would fuck each other silly while they took pictures and made money. To her making money was almost as much fun as having sex. Just thinking about that kind of stuff made the redhead wet and she couldn’t help but cross and uncross her long legs at the thought of them scissoring Julie’s pussy. She licked her lips just thinking about the taste of it and felt her fingers creeping down her stomach. She stopped herself before she could go any further, lest she embarrass herself. She took another drag off her cigarette and tried to remain composed.

Julie didn’t seem to notice anything awry and continued. I want this night to be perfect. I’ve been waiting for this all my life. I just have to wear the right outfit.

She held up a little sun dress. The dress was blue, went down about knee length and showed absolutely no cleavage, much to Josie’s disappointment. She just didn’t understand the girl.

"What do you think about this? Do you think it’s too…revealing?"

Josie tried hard not to roll her eyes again. The sun dress was in no way revealing, at least not intentionally.

Haven’t you worn that dress to church?

    Julie giggled. Yes, but…

Then why do you think it’s too revealing?

I don’t know. I guess it’s because it shows my arms.

Josie shook her head slightly in disbelief. What could she say to Julie that would make her realize what a beauty she was? Well, nothing. She didn’t want to risk being found out. Julie was not the kind of girl who would understand a same sex crush. Unfortunately.

Julie smiled and sat down on the bed beside Josie. I’m sorry I’m being such a lame-brain about this, I’m just so nervous. I just know he’s gonna ask me.

Josie moved a little closer to Julie. She couldn’t believe that Julie could be so dorky. Regardless, she was no less attracted to her. Josie looked at her hair and couldn’t resist playing with it. Julie moved her head a little closer to Josie. She loved for her hair to be played with and was oblivious to the redhead’s advances. Josie began to think that maybe this would be the day that Julie would let her do more than just play with her hair. She put a hand on the girl’s shoulder and began giving her a gentle massage.

So, what are you going to do about school if you get married? Josie asked, feeling herself becoming wet due to the proximity of the pretty brunette. She was breathing a little more rapidly now. The smell of Julie’s perfume was intoxicating and she could imagine kissing the girl’s neck softly. She could imagine the moan that would escape her full lips. Imagining that made Josie want to move a little closer to her. Julie didn’t notice.

Dave’s gonna pay for it. Once we’re married, I’ll be able to quit my job at the mall and concentrate on school…and Dave. She giggled.

Sounds great, Josie murmured, moving a little closer to Julie. She could almost feel the firmness of Julie’s breasts and the moistness of her lips. She moved her hand along Julie’s shoulder, and down her collarbone, but before she had a chance to proceed, Julie jumped up.

Gosh, I’ve got to hurry. I’m gonna be late, Julie said and hurriedly dashed around, getting herself ready.

Josie sighed a lit another cigarette. She guessed she would just have to be content with masturbating to fantasies of Julie until it was time to leave for the club.

    Again.

Later that night, there was a tension so thick in Dave’s apartment it could have been cut with a knife. His breathing was audible as he nervously pulled the box from his pocket and got down on one knee. The feeling of romance was heavy in the air. He had made sure of that. He and Julie were surrounded by blazing candles he had placed all around the living room. Maybe it was a bit much, but from the look in Julie’s eye, he could tell it was far from overkill. She loved stuff like that. And he loved her.

I do, I do love her, Dave thought to himself. He had utilized every trick at his disposal. He had the aromatherapy going. He had the rose petals. He had everything. He just hoped it would work. Living another day without her was just not an option at this point. She was in his blood now. He loved her that much.

Will you marry me? Dave looked up at Julie like a puppy dog, begging for approval.

Julie held her breath as she watched her premonition unfold. On bended knee, he held the ring out. She smiled down at him; he was so cute. How could he possibly think that she was going to say no?

Of course, I will! Julie exclaimed, hugging Dave and giving him a deep kiss. She was so happy. This is what she had been waiting for all her life. To get married to the guy she loved. She had been planning the wedding for years. There would be lots of flowers, food, bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and horses. Yes, horses. She had always dreamed of riding up to the church in a romantic horse drawn carriage.

Dave breathed a sigh of relief. This made him pretty happy, too. There was a moment there that he thought she might reply in the negative. And why wouldn’t she? Here he was, Joe Average, wanting to marry the prettiest girl in town. That kind of stuff didn’t happen every day. Whenever he looked at her, he couldn’t believe he was so lucky. He never really understood what she saw in him, but apparently it was something he didn’t. But he wasn’t going to argue with her.

I’ve got to call my mom! Julie squealed.

She pulled away from him and skipped to the phone. While she talked to her mother, Dave watched the beautiful girl. His first worry was about money. He knew it was going to be tight. Julie managed an accessory shop at the mall part-time and he was bottom of the totem pole at a dot com corporation. He knew things would get better and that he just had to give them a little time to do so. He had skills that he had learned in the service and he was still young. They would be okay. But then… No. He didn’t want to think about anything but his happiness at that moment. No need to ruin it with ideas of her leaving him for a richer or better man. He would do that after they were married.
