I open my eyes as I feel a touch on my shoulder. I look up and Brad is looking down at me. His dark messy hair is shining in the pale moon light on this clear sky night. Brad has a sexy dimple smile and his beautiful blues eyes are calling me. I must have dosed off on the bench down by the lake. It feels like I’ve been here for days. Brad somehow knew where to find me and must have been able to sense the strong feelings of love I felt for him and the want and need to have him near. Our attraction to one another has no bounds. He leans down and gives me a light kiss on my neck. It sends a chill in a good way through my body ending in my lower half of my back. My arms are tingling too and I wanted to grab and kiss him hard but held off the urge. Brad was very thoughtful and knew I might be cold and brought a soft blanket for me. Brad reaches slowly and carefully around me and covers me with the soft blue blanket.

Ok, Amanda what is on your mind? Brad again knew that I had more questions and wanted to talk. He knows me better than I know myself. Maybe this is why I feel so at ease around him. I truly feel he is the one for me, the one I want to be with always. But first I must ask him a difficult question so we can move on.

Brad, I don’t want you to get the wrong idea, but I need to know why I am feeling that I was chosen for something? I feel like I am being led to slaughter or being used for something that I have no idea of what is going to happen?

Amanda, you have every right to be afraid and wonder why you, why not someone else, why me you must be asking yourself. Brad looks deep into my eyes and I can feel his love surround me. Brads eyes brighten from a deep dark blue to a lighter brighter blue. He must be serious in what he is about to tell me. His presence is awe inspiring when he does this to me. The warmth of his love over takes me. It is so ironic that a cold dead thing like a Vampire can make me feel so warm, loved and cared for deeply.

You know I care about you and love you Amanda, don’t you?

Yes, Brad I do. But Cindy and I talked and she feels that I am being used for something and that you are not telling me everything.

"Cindy is right. We do need you and I have not yet told you everything. When I say we I mean myself and all of the Angel Vampire Clan. Let me explain first before you get upset. But before I explain please know that my family and the Angel clan have been waiting a very long time for you to come along.

And why not you Amanda, why can’t you be the chosen one? You keep asking yourself that question. But it had to be someone so why not you? You know you fit the position perfectly. And you will find if you have not already that you have a natural ability to heal people. Why do you think that you chose medicine as your field of study? It was your instincts leading you to do what you are best suited for, and that is making people whole again. Healing those around you that are sick and need you most.

I did not know I would fall in love with you in the process and we never had any plans of hurting you. But the more time I spent with you the more I wanted to be with you. Being next to you takes my breath away and you have a strong effect on me.

Myself and the Angel Clan in fact went out of our way to seek you out and protect you from the Drakin clan before your 16th birthday. Should you accept we always planned on making you part of our family, part of our Clan. It’s even better that I love you and found the person I want to spend all time with. And I hope you feel the same."

I for some reason ignore what Brad just said and blurt out.

Yeah, what is all this about my 16th Birthday! I start to get hot and upset. In the back of my mind I am thinking of what Cindy was telling me.

"Please Amanda, calm down and just let me explain. I met with my family to let them know I love you and I want you to be part of our family. But we do need you to help us raise our oldest ancestor of the Angel clan. Lare our clan’s Patriarch has been under for many years. He is my father Christopher’s leader and the eldest leader of all the Angel clan. Lare is our only hope to fight against the Drakin clan. Their evil leader Allocen has been talking and spreading his evil word. Christopher learned that they are on the verge of taking us out in a surprise attack and either killing our clan or taking out our leaders and making us convert to their evil clan.

I can tell you more about that later. Let me explain why you are so important to the Angel clan and our need to sustain our survival. As there always is good and evil, our clan is good and the Drakin clan is evil. And without the Angel clan keeping that delicate balance between the Vampire clans the human race could be in danger. Should the evil Drakin clan win they surely will not stop there until they have taken over the planet by turning some humans to use as slaves and having the rest killed and burned. By the Drakin clan knowing we’re in control and that the Angel clan favor humans staying alive they will not begin to attack more and more humans. They will stay in the shadows until they are ready and strong enough to take us over. They are afraid of Lare and do not know for sure if we are capable of raising him or if we’ve found you.

Let me explain what happened to Lare a very long time ago before he was put in a deep sleep and Christopher took us over as a temporary Clan leader. You see Lare has always had a week spot within him for beautiful human women. Many years ago your human race had a dark and serious battle with Black death or otherwise known as bubonic plague and he became ill after he bit a very beautiful woman he wanted to make his wife. I know you want to study medicine so you should find what I am going to tell you as being very interesting.

In October of 1347 several Italian merchant ships returned from a trip to the Black Sea. One of the ships trades was with China. The disease started in China in the 1330’s and was spread by fleas and small rodents. The infections spread rapidly as the small rodents took refuge on the ships and Lare was unlucky as the woman he was with must have been bitten by one of these rodents shortly before he was with her. Shortly after Lare bit this woman he fell into a deep sickness and the Angel clan had to act quickly and put him under to sleep until we could find a cure. The Angel clan has been searching for a cure ever since.

The leaders of that time one of them being my father Christopher sought out a well-known Vampire visionary. The visionary was not of either Drakin or Angel clan but more on her own. She was what humans would call psychic and gifted in seeing the future and dimensions other than what we walk in today. This amazing visionary told the Angel clan leaders of a girl with special blood being born in the 21st century. We were glad we had put Lare under as it would be centuries before we found this girl. Amanda you are the one we have been searching centuries for and waiting to be born."

Brad gazed at me with his beautiful blue eyes as my jaw dropped even further than it already was. I simply could not believe what I was hearing. This was almost too much for me. But I care deeply for Brad and tried to remain
