52 Lists from Pregnant to Parent - Alexis Donkin
Why Lists?
One of the lovely things about hormones during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and pretty much the entirety of motherhood is forgetfulness. There are so many things to do and to remember. There are so many people to see, to tell, to yell at. There are so many places to go. There's so much that it can be overwhelming, even for the intact brain, let alone a mommy brain. As someone who likes to be organized and have everything prepared - whether it's to check off all the things I need in my diaper bag or just to make sure I laugh at all the ridiculous comments people make about my parenting - I find lists to be incredibly reassuring. I researched and read and researched some more in order to make my lists to keep my sanity. Then after I went through pregnancy, childbirth, and some baby parenting, I realized the pieces I didn't need and those additions that were absolutely essential.
Rather than go through that trial and error period, or day after day of wondering what you forgot, wouldn't it be nice to have all the lists of things you need in one place? That's why I am sharing my reassurance with you – from before birth through the first year of life - I give you 52 useful, reassuring, and sometimes amusing lists so that you too can raise an alien.
Keep in mind, these lists are based from my crunchy perspective and experience of natural birth and attachment parenting. Some lists may not directly apply to you, but they will help you consider different choices you need to make in how to raise your little alien.
Before Birth
There are some things you just need to have before your baby's birthday. Make sure you're prepared by crossing every
