About this ebook

Lucy, a young woman eager for a break from her job and her boyfriend, rents a beautiful lakeside cottage for a week of relaxation and alone time with her dog, Molly. But little does she know that secrets are lurking in the lake. After only a few hours, something, or someone, pulls at her leg from deep beneath the water. Rattled, but determined to enjoy her vacation, she retreats to the cottage where a whispering voice in the night leaves her shaking in fear as it guides her to "kneel" over and over again.

"Kneel" She Whispered - Kathi M. Nidd

Something was touching her leg; it was light, but unmistakeable.  Lucy reached down but felt nothing.  She silently hoped it wasn’t a blood sucker slithering by.    She kicked her leg hard.  Relax -- It must be just one of those slimy seaweed things that float in lakes, she thought to herself, or perhaps just my own muscles twinging. After all, she hadn’t swum in over a year.  Quickly she picked up her pace and swam hard back towards the dock.  She shuddered at the thought that it may have been an eel.  She’d have to ask the guys at the cottage next door if there were certain areas of the lake that were clearer than others.

She looked up at Molly, sprawled out on the lawn, and felt a pang of guilt.  The dog seemed finally over her frustration at being tied up.  It had been her intention to let Molly roam free, but the minute she’d let her down on the dock, she had become out of control.  Even after a nice swim in the water, she’d obsessively taken to sniffing and scratching at the wood. Despite her usual well trained nature, Lucy had to resort to tying her to the flag pole to keep her restrained.  Tomorrow, once Lucy knew the lake better, she’d let her come in for a longer swim to fulfill all her Labrador fantasies. That should calm her down and putting up with ‘wet dog smell’ for the week was worth it.  After all, they were on vacation!
