About this ebook

With everything she cared about gone, Dominatrix Macie Fitzgerald has built a new life in service to those seeking pain and submission. She takes pride in her success. So when she accepts Jarrod Bancroft’s application to her next training session, she acknowledges the risk. The ten years that have passed since he was her high school history student have only made him more magnificent in every way.

Life has been too easy for Jarrod Bancroft—rich parents, football star, law degree, high powered job, women by the score. Something is missing. He wants whatever Stonybrook Academy can dish out, much as it scares the hell out of him. And he was right to be afraid. He never imagined this. I love to write! Which is a good thing, because no matter what I'm doing, my brain edits sentences, selects or discards words, equivocates over paragraph formation. My file cabinet is stuffed with folders full of ideas, scenes, and half-finished work.My favorite part of writing is description. I want my readers to see, smell, hear, and feel what is going on in the story as if they are there. I can't think of many things as wonderful as those hours when words are pouring through my head and spilling out onto the page, creating a physical world full of passionate people!Other pursuits have taken up parts of my life--a technical profession for a career, children, questionable progress in learning to watercolor. I enjoy cooking, gardening, and time at the Pacific coast. Sunrise and sunset create special moods for me, the twilight between two worlds--fully of creative energy. Most of all, I love snuggling up with a good book.

    Chapter One

Macie set her coffee cup aside and stared at the image on her computer screen. No mistake. A little older, missing the eager flush of adolescence, but this could only be the Jarrod Bancroft she knew from her years as a high school teacher. As in, star quarterback, built like a Greek god with icy blue eyes and coal black hair, Mr. All-Around Popular Guy. Her attraction to him had been visceral then, when anything personal was impossible. But now, filled out and grown up?

Christ, she muttered, rubbing her forehead with her fingertips and resisting the urge to get up from her desk and walk away. Go shopping. Pick up one of the books lying around the house waiting for her. Call Sal for a massage, facial, the works. Ring for Bettina who was always ready for whatever her mistress required.

Instead Macie continued down the page, scrolling through his vitals, his college degree, law school, all the athletic and academic honors, and it occurred to her that he had everything she needed in a package tied up with a bow—looks, intelligence, money, a sense of humor. She smiled remembering his classroom comments, sharp and to the point, always an amusing edge to his observations, his eyes slightly narrowed as he looked at her for approval. In spite of the risk, she had wanted him then, briefly let herself imagine taking him as her own. Only her consuming love for Sam had held her back.

That wouldn’t be a factor now. So much had changed.

In recent years after she had left the classroom forever and aligned her livelihood more closely with her realities, she had known others like him, maybe none quite as stunning, but close. Beautiful men with silken skin and thick cocks, luscious women with firm breasts and long legs. They came searching, uneasy, and she gave them what they craved, what they didn’t know they needed. Somewhere in the middle of all their glorious perfection, the flaw, the discrepancy, bulged open like a wound. It was her job to find it and make it bleed.

What is your wound, Mr. Bancroft? she muttered, lifting the coffee cup and sipping slowly as she continued to read.

The decision would be hers, of course. She could reject his application on numerous grounds, although none of them, she admitted to herself, were truly legitimate. That he came from a wealthy and powerful family. That in spite of how grown up he must feel, he was still young. That he had a career, a future, to think about. Did he have any idea how much a detour like this could permanently affect him?

No, of course he didn’t. At twenty-seven, soon to be twenty-eight, he still had little perspective.

She clicked through to the letters of recommendation, surprised to see a note from her old mentor Chris Patterson. Mr. Bancroft has been quite faithful in his duties while in my employ... Her eyes tracked the scrawling script. Yard work. Why the hell would a rich law school grad like Jarrod need to work for Chris? On several occasions, I have had the pleasure of photographing Jarrod for my journal. During those sessions, he has exhibited endurance and keen interest in particular pursuits for which I have recommended your Academy. I have full confidence that he is aware of what he is asking, and that his intentions are unshakable...

Chris never touched his protégés, much as he might want to. She’d never questioned Chris, simply accepted his peculiar habits. He had helped her discover herself, late bloomer that she had been. Bereft in her loss of Sam, bored with her teaching job, she had pursued his acquaintance on the recommendation of a friend. A rush of heat gathered between her legs as she remembered his first lesson, his offer, really, to help her discover her heart’s desire.

Stripped naked, standing before a fire roaring in his massive fireplace, she had touched herself. It was something she had never done, really, not this way. Resisting the panic, the urge to grab her clothes and run, she had pressed through the swollen lips and dragged the flood of moisture upward, repeatedly stumbling over the delicate knot of her clitoris as it gained size and hardness, until her hands moved of their own accord.

Don’t close your eyes, he demanded. "I want you to
