    THREE TIMES A CHARM

    Chapter One

CHARLOTTE flicked open her laptop and began typing away. She had a marketing plan due in just two days and although she was given more than a month to do it, she procrastinated and landed herself almost last in a tight race against time to produce a plan worthy of implementation. Charlotte had been blessed with one of the greatest jobs in the world. Well at least for her that’s what it felt like to be working as the Marketing Manager for Trenton and Associates. The company was one of the largest law firms in England. It was all her hard work in college paying of big time. She had studied marketing management and graduated at the top of her class. It was quite an accomplishment for her as the youngest member of her family to achieve such a high degree of education.

Her mother and father had sacrificed quite a lot to pay for her dreams since she was the only one that showed true potential. Charlotte was creative, she had a gift not only for writing but for promoting whatever idea she felt passionate about. When she was eight she fell in love with a little white boy who had been transferred into her school. Charlotte never though her caramel skin would be the only reason he did not return her affection but that’s exactly what happened. The boy had grown up in a family that was still holding on the destructive values that made him afraid to even talk to her. His name was Andrew and even though he was in a school that mainly consisted of dark children he kept his distance because of what his parents taught him. It was his hesitation to befriend her that made Charlotte take a good look in the mirror and discover her heritage.

Charlotte always knew she was different. There was something special about her that she felt the world needed to know. She wasn’t just an ordinary black girl living in Grenada and when she got to London she was determined to make everyone she met understand just who she was. Her father was Patrick
