About this ebook

Book of Souls picks up the action a year after the conclusion of the international sensation Library of the Dead. Will Piper’s life has been forever changed by the astonishing secret he discovered hidden at the government’s clandestine installation deep under the Nevada desert. His uneasy retirement from the FBI is interrupted when a long-missing book surfaces at an auction house in London. A group of ex-Area 51 employees recruits Will to assist them in obtaining the book and in helping them solve a mystery that will affect the fate of all mankind. As government operatives try to stop him, Will discovers the ancient missing volume has had a profound effect on history. Remarkably, a newly found puzzle sonnet by a young William Shakespeare seems to have been inspired by the book.

As Will peels back the onion to solve a series of clues hidden in the poem, he finds the book has influenced not only Shakespeare but also the religious philosophy of John Calvin, the father of predestination, and the prophesies of the seer Nostradamus. When the final clue yields the ultimate secret, Will is forced to confront a truth which humanity may not be prepared to accept.

Definitely requires reading 1st book before this one in my opinion (Secret of the Seventh Son), but Glenn's writing style is just as fluid as the the first and I enjoyed this book. Like the first, the prose is just as captivating for the historical passages as with the current day storyline.

If I had never read Library Of The Dead the first 100 pages of this book would have been rather confusing. As a stand alone book, it's a bit of a let down as it follows on from the previous book so much that it could have actually been included in that one.I did like this book even though there is not much depth to the story. Parts of it were frustrating as it attempted to be suspenseful but failed and often came off as if the book was being rushed. A mindless read to pass the time.

This is a sequel to Cooper's 1st book, The Secret of the Seventh Son. The storyline of both books is quite different but, makes for a good read. This book makes a lot of refernces to the 1st book so, I would recommend reading the 1st book before reading this one. This book makes a lot of jumps back in history to help tell the story and includes some very famous historical figures. I thought the book was slow in developing but, the pace picked up quickly at the end.

Quite a bit better than it has any right to be. Not particularly well written, nor is it all that suspenseful, and the premise is ludicrous. Nevertheless it was somehow an entertaining page-turner and inoffensively fun. Could easily have skipped this and not missed much, but oddly enough it felt worth the very little effort it took and strangely satisfying by the end. Maybe I'm slipping, but I'd say that you should consider reading it if you're looking for something that's easy to get through and not to be taken at all seriously. It'll waste your time but entertain you as well.

I loved this book from start to finish. It's taken from the lines of Dan Brown in the Da Vinci code. People get together to solve a historical mystery. To me it's a great way to get people interested in the past, particularly in murky parts of our history where very little written text has survived. This book is fast paced. For the most part you won't want to put it down, I know I didn't.

This is the second book featuring Will Piper and I enjoyed it even more than the first one. A fast paced thriller with lots of action, I couldn't put it down.

This is another excellent book in the Library of the Dead Series by Glenn Cooper. I absolutely loved the first book, and although I still prefer that one this book came a very close second. What's not to love in a book that has links to John Calvin, Nostradamus and William Shalesspeare. As with most of Glenn Cooper's books I love the way he intertwines the modern day story with the back stories in history. Add to this the tension of the chase, the final battle, a good group of characters, a good plot, clues in the chase and you have another gripping read. I would recommend this series if you like this style of books. The challenge now is to read the final book in the series which could well be a humdinger as it is building up to a crescendo.

Book DescriptionThe Library: Only a handful know it exists ... It holds the world's most astonishing -- and terrifying -- information . . . But the one book that is the key to the greatest secret of all time ... is missing. — Former FBI Special Agent Will Piper solved -- and survived -- the 'Doomsday Killer' case ... and his reward was a forced early retirement. But the shattering truths he learned about the government's most covert operations won't let him rest -- and now he's on the trail of a mysterious volume that's been lost for six centuries. This is the book that inspired Shakespeare and the prophecies of Nostradamus, and once Will gets his hands on it, his life will be worth nothing -- his death sentence a top priority handed down from the very highest levels of power.Because there are some truths too dangerous for anyone to know -- those that concern the future, world domination . . . and the end of everything. My ReviewThis was an exciting book for me as I loved all the history and theology that is tied into the story. It's the 2nd book in the trilogy so I suggest that you read book 1 first. The characters are well-developed and the plot was very interesting with a twist in the end. The book was hard to put down and kept the pages flying until the very end and I think this book would make a great movie. I'm looking forward to reading the last book in the trilogy and I would recommend these books to those who love adventure thrillers.

Former FBI Special Agent Will Piper solved - and survived - the "Doomsday Killer" case . . . and his reward was a forced early retirement. But the shattering truths he learned about the government's most covert operations won't let him rest - and now he's on the trail of a mysterious volume that's been lost for six centuries. This is the book that inspired Shakespeare and the prophecies of Nostradamus, and once Will gets his hands on it, his life will be worth nothing - his death sentence a top priority handed down from the very highest levels of power. My Thoughts:This is the second book in the ‘Library of the Dead’ series featuring Will Power. I haven’t read the first book but felt that on this occasion I didn’t need to as there were plenty references to the first story. In fact one chapter in the book covered everything that had happened.I found this book a ‘grail trail’ and dare I say like the ‘Da Vinci Code’. Will Power was a great character and I felt he was an ex FBI turned Indiana Jones type of character running around finding clues. This I found quite fun at times following Will around on his treasure hunt. I read most of the book very quickly and at times it was quite pacy, but at other times I felt like skipping pages as I was getting slightly fed up. I liked the past sections too which included lots of famous people including Nostradamus and Will Shakespeare who all blended into the story nicely.A likeable read in the vain of Dan Brown but this book was enough for me and I don’t feel inclined to read the first book or the third in the series. This book however would make a great film.

This is the sequel to Library of the Dead. Mr. Cooper delivers again continuing the mystery of the missing book. When it miraculously shows up at a rare book auction two mysterious bidders are both determined to attain it. A Shakespearean sonnet secreted in the end flap begins the reader’s continuing journey through history. Mr. Cooper also puts forth (within the context of the fictional story line) some interesting explanations for Calvinism and Nostrodamus. A good read.
