In “The Bamboozling of Bazalob", Derry and Jude are carried in a giant travelling pot to rescue their cousin Katie, from Bazalob, a gross concoction of beast, bird and fish. The children are guided by Mikono, the spirit of the pot and en route they enlist the help of bouncing Blodder, weird Gingali and reluctant Sydney, before finding Katie, who luckily was not to Bazalob’s taste!
In “The Flying Shoes” Sissy and Sam find two giant shoes in a field and when they climb in, fly to the horrible home of Slobsky, a child-eating giant. There they find Milly and Moll, his unhappy daughters and Wendy, trapped in a wheel. Will they escape with the girls before Slobsky seizes them for supper?

Linda Talbot has written fantasy for children and adults and for many years reviewed art, theatre and books in London. She now lives in Crete. She published "Fantasy Book of Food"; rhymes, stories and recipes for children and "Five Rides by a River" - about Suffolk, seen from a bicycle! She contributed a chapter to a book about Conroy Maddox, the British surrealist and features on art to "Topos" the German landscape magazine. The Bamboozling of Bazalob

Katie climbs a green clinging vine and looks over the Land of Lairs. She does not know it is the land lived in by a host of curious creatures that have tumbled from people’s imagination through time. She does not even know how she got there.

Suddenly the thick leaves below her rustle and stir. Then a fierce face with an enormous mouth full of sharp teeth, gazes up at her. Its eyes are red and its white face is striped red and green, as though with war paint. Black spines rise stiffly from the top of its head and, very slowly, it raises a skinny arm with three black claws that restlessly open and close.

Katie freezes with fear. The creature growls and heaves itself from the bushes. Its
