The concluding story, "A Note in A Jewelry Box," focuses on Anni and her reunion with her estranged mother, Annias.Anni, must grapple with her family past and a locked jewelry box, to discovers the path to healing and understanding.

Lydia opened the blue double doors to Greenwich Tech High School, paint flakes stuck to her sweaty palms. She stared down the long dimly lit hallway, sinking into her oversized black hoodie. The room began to sway, and Lydia gasped for air. The room was dense. Her eyes darted everywhere in search of a respite from her internal drowning. The neatly lined lockers held no answers. 

A hand, gentle at first touched her greasy hair, snapping her back to reality. With a hard twist and shove, Lydia rushed toward the scuffed checkered floor. As she turned, she saw a burly ginger boy in his JROTC uniform kicking the contents of her pocket down the hall. 

Hey Beetlejuice, he said pinning Lydia by the shoulder with his heavy boots. Did you kidnap those girls to give to your convict father?

What, no! Lydia said wincing.

You brought him those chicks, so you didn’t have to be daddy's little girl anymore? 

Lydia wiggled out from under his feet and ran down the hallway. She took three strides before hitting the tallest teenager she'd ever seen. Unusually tall for a high schooler or any age for that
