    William Red Atkins and his wife Margie were a quiet couple who had lived in Goose Creek almost all their lives.  Mr. Atkins worked for Halliburton and had been with them for a number of years. His wife Margie had retired from the school system three years earlier.

    When Halliburton offered Mr. Atkins a high-paying job overseas that would last for four years, Mr. Atkins discussed it with his wife. She would be able to accompany him on his job and the company would pay for a place for them to live .After much discussion they decided to take the job. It paid very well and would allow them to build up their nest egg.

    Margie had been unable to conceive and since neither she nor Red had never had any interest in adopting they had remained childless. Because Margie and Red spent most of their time working they had no more than friendly but casual conversation with their neighbors.

    With no relatives close by and very few friends hardly anyone knew that Red and Margie were going to be overseas. Margie called the phone and utility companies and arranged to have the utilities cut off a few days after they left for overseas. They covered the furniture and in general prepared the house for their long absence.

    Time passed and after two years overseas Red had some vacation time coming so Margie and Red decided to come back and see how the house was holding up in their absence. You can imagine their surprise when they came home and found only an empty lot where their modest three-bedroom wood house had been sitting.

    Red immediately called the police and when they came out and he told them his house had been stolen they looked at him rather skeptically thinking it was some kind of a joke. After explaining that he had been
