PROLOGUE

(The story begins with a view panning towards an island in the Aegean Sea, then closes in to one man on the island)

JOHN

I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet saying:

VOICE

I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: What you will see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

(John turns to see the voice that spoke to him, having turned, he sees)

VISION 1

7 golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the 7 candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and around his waist a golden girdle.

His head and his hairs are white as snow; and his eyes are as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

He has in his right hand 7 stars; and out of his mouth goes a sharp two edged sword; and his countenance is like the sun shining in its strength.

(John when he sees him, he falls at his feet as if dead, and the one standing before him lay his right hand upon him saying)

VOICE

Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that lives and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death. Write the things which you see, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter. The mystery of the 7 stars; which you see in my right hand, and the 7 golden candlesticks.

The 7 stars are the angels of the 7 churches: and the 7 candlesticks which you see are the 7 churches.

(After this, John looks and sees a door opened in heaven; and the first voice he hears is as it were a trumpet talking with him; which says)

TRUMPET

Come up here and I will show you things which must be hereafter.

(Immediately John is in the spirit: and behold he sees a throne set in heaven and one sitting on the throne)

VISION 2

He that sits on the throne is to be looked upon like a jasper and a sardine stone; and is a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
