SETTING AND CHARACTERS

A "relationship?" It's all Kate heard. The possibility never occurred to her. She felt like such a fool. Packing her belongings, she hugged Margo goodbye, and called the Wolverine Cab Company. Looking out over the water to the far shore she noticed the leaves were beginning to turn. The cold would soon bring them to the ground. Like my relationship with Picasso––doomed to dry up and blow away––is that what I have to look forward to?

Her head was spinning. She had way too much to do, and no energy left to do it. Everything had to be wrapped up soon.
