    AUTHORS NOTES:

I took all photographs, except the cover, which was taken by my grandson, Christopher, and the one of me feeding a hummingbird was taken by my wife, Sandy. I had been trying for two weeks for a photo good enough for for the cover but was unsuccessful. While I was at the library with two of my grandchildren my ten year old grandson, Christopher, stayed home and got several great shots of Shorty (a hummer that returns to our yard every year). One of them was what I had been looking for. I’m proud of you Chris, thank you.

My wife and I have enjoyed hummingbirds at our house since 2004. This guide is based on our experience and my research. The things described here work for us, and I hope they work for you.

I took all photographs in the book except the cover. I had been trying for two weeks to get a photo good enough for the cover but was unable to. I couldn't get the one I wanted with my little camera, so I borrowed my daughter's Nikon. While I was at the library with two of my grandchildren, my ten-year-old grandson, Christopher, stayed home and got several great shots of our favorite hummingbird, Shorty. One of them is what I had been looking for. I'm proud of you, Chris; thank you.
