ONE afternoon in late July, I found a racing pigeon that sported a light blue ring pecking at a rubber mat outside my birdroom door.
The main door was open, but my wire safety door was closed. I threw some bird seed (mainly millets) onto the paving slabs by the door. The pigeon was clearly very hungry, as it immediately started eating. At one point, when I came too close, it flew onto my birdroom roof, so I knew it was not injured.
