About this ebook

Regardless of where you are on the path of Tarot Card learning, this book, Series 1 in a series of 9, should help to confirm that accurate Readings can be done with a minimum of fanfare. This means K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Series) will be applied to all aspects of what it takes to do a Reading. All information can be used regardless of whether you are doing a Self-reading or for a Querent (the one you are doing the reading for).
If you are a neophyte, then this book is designed to get you started. You may never have even seen an entire deck of Tarot cards, but are intrigued by the possibilities they may hold. Without memorizing hundreds of meanings for the entire deck, you will be able to hold Readings for yourself and others that will be informative, simple to understand and give new hope and directions for a better future. This book is designed so that Tarot Card Readings can be done by using the spread diagrams, meaning sheets, charts, worksheets and color-coding in such a manner that the Querent will be able to follow along with you as the Reader.
Part 1: Reader and the Querent
This explains what you need in order to be a Reader. It will illuminate the connection you must make with the Universe that will give you the ability to do an accurate Reading. This defines the Querent who will receive the Reading, whether you are the Querent doing a Self-reading or for another person. Certain expectations from the Querent's point of view must be met in order to have a successful outcome. There is an interaction between the Reader and the Querent. Communication is paramount in order to avoid any misunderstanding concerning the process. This includes your own inner-dialogue when you are doing a Self-reading.
Part 2: Making Choices
There are common factors for the space of choice. The importance of a Reading layout arrangement will be discussed. Various surface plans will be given to accommodate several different possibilities when doing a Reading. A description of environmental enhancements, what they are and their importance in a Reading will be given. Environmental allergies are also addressed. There is a discussion of common features found in many of the traditional and popular decks.
Part 3: The Significator
The Significator is an integral part of the Reading. There is an outline of what a Significator is, why it is important, and various ways that a Significator can be chosen. While there are many possibilities, by answering a few simple questions on the "Questionnaire Worksheet," the choice can be narrowed down fairly quickly.
Part 4: Tarot Card Meanings
This introduction will alleviate any fears you may have that you must memorize hundreds of meanings in order to have a valid Reading Session. How you should handle a preconceived idea that you may have for a card meaning is discussed. Why not all meanings on a card can apply to the question or directive will be explored. Reversals are explained and reasons for not using them are clarified. The difference between Pip Card meanings and Court Card meanings will be explained.
Part 5: Tarot Card Spreads
This will introduce spreads to you that are used during a Reading to focus on a particular aspect that is in need of an answer. An example is detailed for you so all spreads can be easily followed. How they are categorized by Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and their subdivisions are charted. How to choose the right spread is also important, and procedures are given. Why the questions or directives are formed the way they are will be clarified. Forbidden spreads for you and/or the Querent will be explained.
Part 6: On Your Mark, Get Set, Go
You will need to be prepared to give Readings. There is an outline for the paraphernalia that a carrying case should have so that you can be ready at a moment's notice to do a Reading. A keepsake gift of the Reading for the Querent is described and an example given.

    Preface - Finding Foolproof

Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

This book is dedicated to my best friend, B.J., who encouraged me to find my way out of darkness and into the light of a Universe filled with wonder connecting everything from one end to the other. She said, Look into Tarot cards, don't dismiss them too quickly.

It is said that in the beginning, there was light. I was sure that if I even touched a Tarot card deck, I would either get struck by lightning or burned as a witch. Those were not the kind of lights I had in mind!

The light was not bright at first. The cards were confusing, no two cards from different decks looked the same and search engines gave multiple thousands of sites all claiming to have the real meaning for each card. So who was right? Which guru should I follow? Which deck was the true deck?

To be sure, many are under the impression that Tarot Card Reading is akin to soothsaying, divination, and witchcraft. Let me assure you, it is not. It took many years and study of the metaphysical aspect of the Universe to understand the nature of Tarot Card Reading. Part of its history may have been tied to divination, but a closer look at how to actually do a Reading has nothing to do with forturntelling. Every Reading carries a potential future unless you or the Querent (the one you are doing the Reading for) changes some direction of life to change that outcome. Nothing is written in stone!

With years of study and practice, I was able to take Tarot cards and narrow down the myriad of possibilities to those that made the most sense and still give an overall picture of every human experience. I used spread diagrams, meaning sheets, charts, worksheets and color to easily discern the many aspects that Readings hold. This made for foolproof Readings, not only for myself but for others. This is what I will be sharing with you.

So here is the answer to the many questions I had in the beginning. Every Reader is a true Reader; every guru is the true guru; every deck is the true deck! How can this be? Because the Universe carries every conceivable possibility, everything is possible and therefore true because it exists. If this seems a little mind-boggling, then sit back, take a deep breath, relax and we'll take this journey together. I'll hold your hand the whole way, and you will discover how to do Readings for yourself and others by understanding the intricacies of the Universe.

Follow along as spread diagrams, meaning sheets, charts, worksheets and color are explained reducing the thousands of possibilities down to an understandable level. If a Reading isn't straight forward, you will lose yourself and/or the Querent in a quagmire of mazes that will be overwhelming. We will take Tarot Card Readings and K.I.S.S. them! Keep It Simple Series!

This is Series 1 in a series of 9. Ten spreads are given as a starting point. I have 138 more spreads to share with you. Some of them are intermediate, some of them are advanced. In the next four of this series (Series 2 – 5), the intermediate spreads of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, 74 will be shared. In the last four of this series (Series 6 – 9), the advanced spreads of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, 64 will be shared. For Series 2 – 9, additional subdivisions are included.

It is the pesky MB limitation of digital e-book uploads that prevent me from giving you the entire series in one-fell-swoop! Maybe someday cyberspace will be more kind to authors like myself.

So, is what you will learn here the true way to do Readings? Yes, as true as any other way.

    Jacqueline G. Tracy, Ph.D.

    Introduction - A Single Step

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

    Confucius

Let's begin the journey.

This Series 1 book will K.I.S.S. the procedure. It is a Neophyte's Delight.

If you are already an expert Tarot Card Reader or are well-aware of the Reading process, then this book will have parts that are Ho-hum! or Duh! But it may very well be an opportunity to fine-tune your Reading practices. You can keep your Querent engaged in the process without it being overwhelming. And there's always something new to learn!

This book is designed so that Tarot Card Readings can be done by using the spread diagrams, meaning sheets, charts, worksheets and color-coding in such a manner that the Querent will be able to follow along with you as the Reader. It is assumed at this point that you are interested in doing Readings, not only for yourself, but for others as well. You may want to do it as a gratis gesture for friends and family, or you may want to do it as a business. This book will show you how.

The singular form of person or Querent will be referred to as he/him/his for ease of reading but that certainly could be read as she/her/hers just as well. The continued phrases of he/she, him/her, his/hers are annoying when it needs to be used in so many places. Please forgive this author's license for English usage by leaving out the she/her/hers.

Here is an outline of what this book holds for you.

Part 1: Reader and the Querent

Chapter 1: This part explains what you need in order to be a Reader. It will illuminate the connection you must make with the Universe that will give you the ability to do an accurate Reading.

Chapter 2: This defines the Querent who will receive the Reading, whether you are the Querent doing a Self-reading or for another person. Certain expectations from the Querent's point of view must be met in order to have a successful outcome. A disclaimer is provided for you to give to Querents who request your service.

Chapter 3: There is an interaction between the Reader and the Querent. Communication is paramount in order to avoid any misunderstanding concerning the process. This includes your own inner-dialogue when you are doing a Self-reading. This is the chapter that reveals the exact method to Foolproof Tarot Card Reading. Using this easy 10-Step method will ensure accurate information as well as the complete participation of the Querent.

    Part 2: Making Choices

Chapter 4: Common factors for the space of choice will be listed. The importance of a Reading layout arrangement will be discussed. Various surface plans will be given to accommodate several different possibilities when doing a Reading. Even when space is abundant, it is still important to have your Reading paraphernalia user-friendly.

Chapter 5: This describes environmental enhancements, what they are and their importance in a Reading. It gives suggestions for their use. Environmental allergies are also addressed.

Chapter 6: Here an in-depth look will be given to various kinds of enhancements. They will include fabrics, candles, incense, essential oils, gemstones, music and colors.
