About the Author: Anna Patterson grew up in the Ozark Hills with a dream of becoming an archeologist. She was able as a young adult to put the desire to good use exploring the mountains and river line of the Ozarks for early artifacts from the past. Many times in her treks deep into the wilderness forests, she was able to seek out and see first hand abandoned cemeteries of pioneers and Indians there and Ghost towns which had been abandoned during an earlier time. But it was her desire to know more about the early civilizations which resulted in her entering into her studies in history, art, and especially ancient civilizations in college. Her life as a writer brought her to many years of work in Journalism from college papers to work as a reporter and at one point Society Editor. She is now pursuing her desire to write fiction novels and feels that this allows her to put to use her life’s study of antiquities. She and her husband live in a house over 100 years old with their two Yorkies and two cats.

    Chapter 1: The Vampire Clan

The Vampire bent over his task. He was writing a history of the battles which occurred at the end of the planet. He was serious about this and intently wrote:

"They came because they were delighted with man’s blood. They had been warned, but as we determined much earlier than this, if they will not listen to my voice, they shall listen to my fists. Meanwhile, we play innocent, silly games.

Challenge me not in this quest of mine, as old as time, as old as time

Envy me not this lonely life I have treaded among the living dead.

But it has moments so wonderful with delight it robs you of your sleep at night." When he was finished writing, he locked the notebook up and put it away.

So this story begins at an end of time for a world. That being said, it was the end of our time and the end of the world wars and everyone grabbed at peace where they could find it this is what the Vampire and his clan did that day they invaded the sanctuary of Tad Follier’s family.

It was the day the stars of the Milky Way began to explode before their very eyes.

At that very time, the Vampires Kingdom was ruled by Efesel VanBrint, Efesel who told his son to leave the world he had known all of this life and go to the remnants of earth and find a bride there. So the son, Haufan, set out to bring his royal blood into earth and find a bride there. At which time he immediately fell in love with an earthling called, Ruby.

For the family which was the matter of interest to the Vampires, the day started with a rebuke from Ruby's father, Ruby, you can’t take a shower bath in the creek anymore, her father, Tads Follier warned, but Ruby would not give it up. Tad was worried about his only daughter, finding her defiant and obviously lonely. She had spurned the attention of men in their area and now always, always this defiance. So she was doing what she wasn’t supposed to do, bathing nude in the creek water, unchaparoned of course, when trouble came to her.

So there she was when the Vampire saw her and coveted to have her so he bent down and drank from the stream wanting to see if it would taste of her sweat and her body fluids and it did. The strange man seemed to bring a nature’s storm with him since the skies clouded up and became suddenly dark. Rain began to fall also, slightly at first with a hint of a drenching downpour. The man looked aloof, dark, and mysterious. But his hair shone golden, but black in the light and his eyes were a light blue or blue green going to black at times when Ruby saw them for the first time. And she saw his beautiful hands dipping into the water so close to her and cupping to allow him to drink from the beautiful, clear water.

Ruby smiled at him in confusion and wonder. She herself was a beautiful innocent in a world which had turned rotten with wars separating the different parts of the world sending the remaining people of this world into isolation due to fear. Her family lived in isolation with perhaps about 3,000 people in various close colonies in this area. The rest of civilization they knew was some distance from them, and they had learned it was safer to stay in this isolation they had forced upon themselves or face dire consequences, even death.

Ruby was chaffing under this isolation and her loneliness showed in the way she handled this dangerous, unexpected event. She welcomed seeing the handsome man in front of her. And all of her body made her feel this excitement there in the water with creek water glistening on her half exposed breasts and silken legs and buttocks. Then she realized her predicament and nakedness and acted a bravo which was only skin deep.

Haufan saw the innocent smile. So he meant to have her and had decided this even before this.

So he transformed himself into an earthlike being and approached her as she came out of the water with the dripping water oiling her pearl white skin and adding glisten to her full red lips. She had grabbed large towels there and was doing her best to cover her lovely nakedness. But to the Vampire’s amusement, it just wasn’t helping like she thought it did. He was studying the soft curve of her milky white shoulders. He could see by her red hair and the gesture she used to pull it back so that she could see better that she was frightened, but he could also see she was preparing herself for battle. He liked that to, but he knew better than to comment on that and instead said, I’m lost. Can you tell me where the nearest inhabited town is?

You need to leave, said she, my brothers watch and protect me in this cove. They both looked around at the beautiful
