BANG by William Butler is a hard-boiled crime fiction set in present day. It is the twisted tale of fate, adultery, murder, and romance. This story is definitely for adults only as it does have a lot of f... words, and sensual scenes. This is a multiple facet plot which is well written with details and with characters to say the least are a little deranged and very flawed. This was a complicated story with a list of characters where each have their own agenda. Tim apparently is the man to hate,"Tim gotta die kinda of guy" and several people want just that.Including his cheating wife,a viscous mother, a best friend who is not such a best friend, and a sister-in-law who is a little deranged.Than add into the mix a new love triangle and somebody is going to die. While Tim was believed to attempted a suicide, others things was actually in play.If you add all these things together you gotta have the perfect hard boiled crime fiction with a little romance mixed into the plot.An interesting read. This book was received for the purpose of review from the author and details can be found at CreateSpace, and My Book Addiction and More.

CHAPTER 1:

BANG

She took her time pulling up to the house. Shelley drove around the block about five times before actually pulling into the driveway. She sat in the car as if her legs would not let her move. She did not want to face him, not now not ever. There was no way they could actually save their marriage. To her it ended a year ago and Tim just wanted to hang on. His anger drove her mad and into his best friend’s bed. The sex with Frank was new and refreshing. He gave her something she needed to get through the last year of what she called hell, hell being no exaggeration of the word.

Every day Shelley would come home to something new. The house tore up with a new hole in the wall and Tim drunk in his boxers waiting for her to come home. He would accuse her of false things and then force himself on her. For a while, she would give in and let Tim have his way, but a time came when she would not let him do what he wanted with her. That was when he started to hit her. Shelley received a fractured wrist, a black eye and bloody nose from Tim’s rages. She learned not to do certain things around him. She would come home late hoping that he was passed out from drinking, so she would not have to deal with him. There were days it worked and then days it did not.

Frank was such a sleaze, but so attractive. Frank only needed to smile at her and that was enough to make her blood warm. The day she and Frank had sex was on a Tuesday. It was sunny outside and warm. Frank came over to pick up something he left. She was not even expecting him when she answered the door. He smiled at her with his white teeth. Shelley smiled back looking down as if she was shy.

Well are you going to invite me in, he asked. His blue eyes looking her over like he always did. Shelley moved out of the way so Frank could walk into the house. He was wearing a black wife beater and worker jeans and tan boots for the construction site he worked at. She looked at his strong arms and ass as he walked by. She felt something stir inside her chest.

Why are you here, she asked.

Frank turned to her smiling.

I came to see you, he said and she felt as though she could pass out from this. What was it that he did to her? Frank laughed at her expression because she looked scared. Shelley blushed and moved toward the kitchen.

Did you want something to drink it’s hot outside, she said, stopping at the table to pour him a glass of water.

Frank walked up to her, stopping close to her. Shelley could feel the heat off his body, which made her sweat a little. His smell was intoxicating. His eyes focused on her as he reached around her for his work gloves that he left on the table. His hand moved around her caressing her thigh and then her belly. Her back was to him. She could feel him press up against her. She took his hands into hers pulling them up to her mouth to kiss them. He pressed himself hard against her, one hand moving to her breast the other between her legs.

Do you feel something you like, he said. She bent backwards to kiss his mouth. She felt his scruffy face against hers and his tongue in her mouth. She heard the jingle of his belt being undone as he opened his pants. He did everything and everything was heated. Frank pulled up her dress, placing himself inside her. They were like animals as he had sex with her against the table. They kissed, bit and pawed at each other. Shelley reached out to grab his ass to push him deeper into her. For the first time Shelley actually had an orgasm, which made her shake and cry after they finished. He held her for a while and then pulled out. Frank got himself together grabbing his gloves. He started for the door. Shelley turned around to look at him as he smiled at her, nodded, and closed the door.

That was the first time they ever did anything. She could not get enough. Four months later, Tim decided to come home early from work only to find Frank and her together in the bedroom climaxing. Tim just stood there looking at Frank on top of his wife. Tim’s body was frozen from disbelief, as Frank finished and then pulled out to get up. Frank stood naked in front of Tim as he lit a cigarette. He put on his boxers and pants. Shelley was curled up in the sheets afraid of what was going to happen. It was almost humiliating to be found out, yet liberating at the same time. However, this was not how she wanted to end things with Tim. Shelley watched as Frank just got up grabbed his shirt and walk past Tim, without Tim doing a thing. She could even see the smirk Frank gave Tim as he walked past him. Tim looked angry now, yet did nothing. Shelley took advantage of the situation. She got dressed, grabbing a few things. Tim walked over to the bed sitting on the edge placing his face in his hands.

Where are you going, he said in an eerie calm voice. Shelley walked to the door of the room looking back at him from the corner of her eye.

I’m going to stay at a motel. I will call you, she said, walking out grabbing her keys. Before Shelley’s hand touched the front door to leave, a loud crashing sound came from the bedroom. She opened the door fast, running out to her car. Shelley drove off as Tim walked out of the house with his shotgun. The last thing she heard as she sped away was the loud bang the gun made as he shot it up in the sky or at her for all she knew.

Now a month later Tim is trying to get her back. She could not stand living in the motel any longer. She was ready to return home, but not with Tim living there. She actually enjoyed her freedom. Though she wished, Frank was with her. He never came back after that. She would leave him messages on his cell but he would never return her call. Therefore, Shelley decided that she would come to the house and listen to what Tim had to say.

Still sitting in the car Shelley looked down at her feet. She tried to make them move so she could get this done with. Now even her hand would not move to the door handle. She lowered the window lighting a cigarette. She stared out the driver’s side window away from the house. She just looked at the neighbor’s yard. Her hand shook a little from being nervous. Her face looked worried, and then as if the past came, back to haunt her there was a loud bang that came from inside the house.

Startled, Shelley froze for a moment and then quickly got out of the car. She went to the front door unlocking it. She started to cry, but she held back as hard as she could, because of the thought of what was going to be on the other side of the door was overbearing. She pushed on the door but it stopped because it was on the chain. She paused for a moment trying to look into the room. All she saw were Tim’s legs on the floor.

Tim, she called to him. Just then Tim’s legs moved. Shelley closed the door and walked around to the back door. She went into the house through the kitchen. Shelley walked into the living room and screamed. There on the floor getting up was Tim. His face covered with blood. He screamed back at her in a horrifying gurgle. Tim swayed a little and then fell back to the floor. He looked at Shelley, squinting at her as if he could not see her. He reached out to her with his hand as if he was trying to ask for help. He called for her, but it came out as a horrifying howl. Tim had become a monster. Shelley screamed as she started to cry. She covered her mouth and eyes as she shook uncontrollably. Shelley quickly ran into the kitchen. She hesitated for a moment trying to think of what she should do.

She opened her cell phone and dialed Frank’s number. His phone rang until it went to voicemail. Shelley hung up. She glanced back into the living room where Tim still laid. She opened her cell phone again and called 9-1-1. She did not know what to do, as she watched Tim drag himself to the couch, blood streaking across the floor.

Just relax Tim, help is on the way, she said. Shelley then opened her cell phone again calling Frank. He did not answer so she left him a message. Frank… Tim… she paused shaking as she watched him look up at her. Tim tried to kill himself and the ambulance is on the way. I need you please come over, please. She hung up the phone. Shelley sighed with despair as she heard the ambulance pull down the street and into the driveway. She ran around Tim, who tried to reach for her foot. Shelley opened the door to let the paramedics into the house.

They rushed in taking control of the situation fast. They talked to Tim as if he was an old man, gentle and loud. Of course, Tim could not respond verbally so they had him hold up one finger for yes and two fingers for no. However, there were times when Tim would shake his head and they would have to stop him before he slung more blood everywhere. They quickly gave him a shot to calm him down and then tried to figure out a way to get him to the ambulance without him choking on his own blood or lose any more than he needed to lose. Shelley’s hands were to her face and mouth the whole time. The police were there along with the fire department. The police pulled her aside.

What happened here, Officer Bradley asked.

I’m not sure, Shelley said. I believe Tim tried to take his own life. I pulled up to the house and waited in my car for a moment and then that was when I heard a gunshot. I came into the house and there was Tim on the floor and… she paused looking at all the blood. She watched as the paramedics helped walk Tim past her and into the ambulance. The officer reached out and touched her arm.

Everything is going to be okay, he said. She shook her head without answering him.

Is there any other questions officer, she asked.

Just one, does Tim have any other relatives that we can get a hold of, he asked.

Yes, his mother. Shelley looked dazed for a moment as the ambulance drove off. She felt faint. She fell against the officer. Is he going to die? Officer Bradley held her tight helping her back onto her feet.

The paramedics are doing everything they can to keep him alive, he said. Is there any way we can get his mother’s phone number so we can call her to let her know what happened?

I will do it, Shelley said. I need to call her. Shelley pulled her cell phone out, found Dina’s name, and pressed send. The phone rang and rang then finally someone answered.

Who the hell is this calling so late, it better be fucking important, Dina said. Her voice infuriated Shelley so much that she wanted to hit the old woman.

Dina, it’s Shelley.

What the hell do you want, she asked. You realize I’m busy. I have company.

It’s Tim, Shelley said.

What about him, he’s your problem now. That’s why you married him, Dina said stressing the you as if it was a curse or something. It was obvious that Dina had been drinking and probably doing other stuff too. In the background, someone moved around and laughed. The phone made a muffled scratching sound as if someone was pressing it against clothing. There was another laugh and a man’s voice saying, Hurry up baby, I need some. Shelley was angry; she looked at the officer and then walked away from him.

Dina, you fucking bitch, she said. Your son has shot himself in the head and is on the way to the hospital where they are trying to save him. There was silence on the other end of the phone. Maybe you should stop fucking around and be a mother and go be with him while I take care of things here. She hung up before Dina could retaliate with a hateful comment.

It was almost embarrassing to have talked to her like that with an officer of the law standing in her living room. Shelley looked at the officer blushing. She then looked around the living room at the blood that streaked across the floor as well as the blood splatter across the wall. The crime scene unit was walking around the room taking pictures and laying out crime scene tape. One guy laughed as he pulled something out of the wall, splattered with blood.

Oh, a tooth, he said as he placed it into a bag.

All this made Shelley shake and light headed. The officer came up behind her placing his hand on her shoulder.

Are you okay, he asked.

She shrugged his hand off her shoulder and walked to the door for fresh air.

I’m fine, she said.

He walked up to her standing next to her.

You can talk about it if you want to, the officer said. It’s okay this is a horrible thing that happened. I know you must be hurting. Bracing herself against the doorway as if she was going to fall, Shelley turned to look at the officer in disgust. Whether it was the recent conversation with Dina or the overwhelming sense of abandonment from Frank, Shelley reacted in a hateful way and snapped.

You know nothing about me, she yelled, standing up straight. The officer stepped back not expecting her reaction to be so forceful. His first reaction was to unclip his gun just in case he needed to pull it. Who are you to tell me how I feel? Who is anyone for that matter to tell me how I should be feeling right now! She started to cry as her face turned red.

Calm down ma’am, he said. Shelley stormed past him to her car. Shelley, in anger and whatever else, got into her car slamming the door. She started it up and drove off, back to the motel she was staying in. She could not be at that house any longer. The smell and the blood—the image of Tim’s mutilated face flashed at her each time she blinked. How could someone do something like that to themselves? She quickly pulled into a parking space at the motel where she was staying. She paused for a moment trying to calm down. She pulled out her cell phone and tried to call Frank again. It went straight to voicemail.

Please Frank come over I’m at the motel. Tim shot himself and is in the hospital, please come over. She hung the phone up and finally got out of the car. Shelley walked into her motel room closing the door behind her. She went into the small kitchen area to pull a bottle of vodka from the freezer. She then grabbed a glass and started to drink.

****

Dina was furious. She couldn’t believe after all this time that little bitch wife of Tim’s called her this early in the morning disturbing her fun only to tell her about Tim trying to kill himself. She did not care. What Dina did care about was Earl, who was smoking and naked in her bed. Earl would seem like a name that would be attached to an old man, but it belonged to a twenty-six year old man. Dina met him at the bar she always went to on the weekends. He bought her a drink and after a few moments of conversation, he thought she was crazy and could not wait to fuck her. He called her a MILF and she called him a jackass. The next thing she wanted was to be on him and she could not wait to get him home—so they had sex in his car. The car was the first place they had sex and then he took her home where they had some more. She rolled a joint; they drank beer and pleasured each other as many times as they could before she got the call from Shelley.

Dina was serious when she said Tim was Shelley’s problem now. She hated all the times that boy of hers came between her and happiness. Every man she has been with since his conception has left her because of Tim. Now he leaps back into her life with a bullet. She looked at Earl who was smiling and rubbing himself. She resented the fact that Tim lived right now. At least if he died she could have waited to go and see him. Earl started to rub his chest as he got himself hard. He smiled and winked at Dina.

Come on baby, lets fuck, he said, reaching over taking her by the arm. He pulled her onto the bed making her laugh in a rough smokers laugh. He slid into her and pounded into her as if he did not care. He was rough. The young ones were always a little more rough, but if she wanted to make love she would look for older guys, but Dina did not want to settle down, she wanted to have fun. She needed to make up for all the fun she missed raising Tim. Earl finished inside her and then fell completely on top of her his weight holding her down. Who was that on the phone?

It was my daughter-in-law, she said.

What did she want, he asked, breathing heavy.

She was telling me that my son, Tim, shot himself and was on the way to the hospital. Earl sat up quickly looking at Dina.

Why the hell didn’t you say so, he said, concerned. We should get dressed and head over to the hospital. Dina rolled her eyes pushing Earl off. Another down fall of most men was that they attached themselves too fast. Right now, he was acting as if Tim was a relative of his own and was up off the bed getting dressed. They always act like this before they leave her. They see that Tim is too much to handle and that is when he will leave.

Tim’s father, well the guy Dina said was his father, did the same thing when Tim was born. They were going to get married. Everything was in place. Dina was standing in front of the priest and they were saying their wedding vows that they both wrote. She was eight and a half months pregnant with Tim. Then when she was about to say I love you, her water broke. Dina rushed to the hospital and gave birth to Tim after eighteen hours of pain. At that very moment when she held Tim in her arms and looked at his father, Dina felt like she had a good family. Tim’s father smiled in that way he always did—then he was gone. Dina never heard from him again.

Dina stared at Earl as he smiled at her while he put on his boots. He paused for a moment. He stood there with his jeans unzipped and open to where she could see his purple boxers. He had one boot on and the other in his hand. Earl sat down beside Dina on the bed placing his arm around her. Dina did not say anything, because he thought she was feeling bad right now when she did not feel bad at all. What she felt was the urge to ride him again.

It will be okay, he said, holding her tight. Let’s try to get to the hospital and make sure he’s okay. Dina did not want to do that, she just wanted to have fun and pretend that she did not have a son in the hospital. He hopped back up onto the floor, slipping his other boot on. Dina slowly got dressed so they could leave. Apparently, Earl was not going to get the hint. She usually was not so quiet about such things, but in some way, Dina rather liked Earl. She dressed and then they both got into her car. She turned to look at him for one more time before she pulled out of the driveway.

For the rest of the night Shelley sat around the kitchen drinking. A few hours had gone by and her phone barely rang. When it did ring it was not who she wanted it to be so she would press the ignore button on her cell phone and send it to voice mail. Right now, she felt numb from all the drinking and was ready to puke if she needed to. She stared at her cell phone almost willing it to ring and for it to be Frank. She desperately wanted him to be there with her. She wanted to feel his strong arms hold her. His embrace was the only thing that could run all the mixed emotions she was feeling right now away. Shelley hated to feel this way. As for Tim, she did not feel a thing. Frank took front row to her pain. Tim was in the past and she has been over him for some time now.

Just the thought of Tim brought back the horrible memories of her marriage to him and how he killed their unborn child. She blamed him for killing the child even though the doctor said he had nothing to do with it. The doctor was not quite sure exactly how she lost the baby. He would look Shelley up and down trying to get an answer to the question he was asking in his head. Shelley pushed back the memories of that day and poured herself another drink. Right then her cell phone rang and she looked at it. She quickly answered it.

Hi, she said.

What are you doing?

I’ve been waiting for you.

Why, shouldn’t you be at the hospital?

I don’t care about going to the hospital, she said feeling angry again.

Have you been drinking?

Why does it matter, where are you?

It matters because you really shouldn’t be drinking. You do that too much.

Shut the fuck up and tell me where you are. I want to see you.

I’m nearby. Are you going to go and see him?

What’s with all the questions, no I’m not going to go and see him. I don’t care if he dies, Shelley yelled.

Don’t say that, you do care he is your husband.

As far as I am concerned he stopped being my husband a long time ago.

Now don’t be pointing fingers, you cheated on him.

Yes, but he hurt me so many times, emotionally and physically, she said.

You should try to let that go? I’m sure he feels bad about that.

Why does everyone want to tell me how I should be feeling and what I should be doing, she said. Shouldn’t I decide if I want to be angry? Shouldn’t I decide if I want to let something go or to go and see a man who hated not only life but himself?

Shell, he said.

No, Frank, we both know Tim did everything he could to destroy all of us. What happened to him he deserved and all I regret is why it couldn’t happen sooner.

There was a pause, which lasted for what seemed a long time.

Are you at the motel?

Yes, she said and started to cry. Frank I need you to come over. Please won’t you come over and make me feel better?

Sure, he said. I’m on the way.

I love you, she said, but he had already hung up the phone. Shelley hung up too sitting there in silence. Her cell rang again and she looked at it, but it was not Frank calling her it was from a number she did not recognize so she ignored it sending the call to her voice mail.

****

Frank pulled up into a parking space at the motel where Shelley stayed. Shelley immediately opened the door to her room and ran out to greet him. She opened the door to his car and threw herself on him before he could even get out. She kissed him hard and eagerly on the mouth. He held her arms and gently pushed her away.

What’s got into you, he asked.

I missed you, she said. You haven’t called or come by since the day we were caught by Tim.

Well I’ve been busy, he said. He looked into her eyes. She seemed possessive and he hated it when she got that way. All he wanted to do right now was leave and forget he ever had sex with her. Shelley was acting like a child who just found out what love was. She petted his chest and played with the buttons on his shirt.

What have you been doing, she asked and he said nothing. He just looked at her. Shelley’s expression changed fast from child like to anger. She slapped him. You asshole! Shelley hit his chest with her fists. You have been fucking someone else, who is she, she screamed. Frank grabbed her hands and forced her off him and out of the car. He dragged her into the motel room closing the door.

Calm down, he yelled. The last thing we need is the cops coming to pay us a visit.

Don’t tell me to calm down, she yelled. Who is she?

There is no one else, he yelled back. Frank peeked out the window and then looked back at Shelley.

You are a liar, she yelled, rushing toward him with her fists again. Frank grabbed a hold of her arms shaking her a little.

Stop this, he said pulling her to him. Frank hugged Shelley tight and when she tried to squirm loose, he held her tighter. Stop acting like this. There is no one else…only you. Shelley stopped fighting and started to cry. She wanted to believe that, but something deep down told her differently. She hugged him back allowing herself to believe it anyways. She needed him right now, especially now. He kissed her forehead and then her mouth.

I missed you so much, she said, looking up at him.

I missed you too.

Why did you have to go away?

I had some things to take care of, he said moving away from her. He took a seat at the table. He saw the vodka bottle and the empty glass. Frank leaned back in the chair to check the window once more but saw no one driving up. He leaned forward placing both elbows on the table.

Is it what I’m thinking?

Yes, everything is in place, he said, smiling. Shelley ran over to him and sat in his lap. She kissed him hard on the mouth in excitement.

I can’t wait to get away from all this, she said.

Me too, babe, he said. But we still have some unfinished business to take care of before we leave here. Shelley rolled her eyes.

Can’t we leave him out of this for just one damn minute, she said, angry. Why is it that he has to always come between us?

I don’t think he is coming between us, but we can’t leave until it is done.

Shelley got up from his lap walking across the room. She bit on her finger as she tried to think of another way.

Can’t we just pay someone to take care of it, she asked. Shelley smiled walking over to his lap and sat down again. She placed both arms around Frank hugging him tight. Please…we could pay someone to stick it to him and we could be in Mexico when it happens.

I will think about it, but I really think we should do it ourselves. Frank moved Shelley off his lap. He stood up walking across the room. He reached into his pocket pulling out his cigarettes. He lit one and started to smoke. Shelley checked Frank out looking him up and down, as if she was seeing him for the first time. He was so tall and strong. She moved up behind him wrapping her hands around to caress his chest and stomach. Frank cocked an eyebrow and blew out some smoke from his mouth. She moved her hands down to his belt undoing it. Frank turned to face her as she smiled at him. You want something?

I sure do, she said undoing his pants and pulling out his cock. She placed him in her mouth sucking him for a while. Frank closed his eyes letting himself feel her tongue and wet mouth. He placed one hand on her head to pull on her hair, while he held the cigarette in his other hand. She stopped what she was doing to stand up. Shelley smiled at him seductively walking backwards to the bed. She undid her pants allowing them to fall to the floor. Shelley stepped out of them with ease as she crawled onto the bed. She motioned for him to come over which he did without hesitation, grinning while he moved toward her. Frank was ready to have sex and he was not going to wait any longer than he had to. He crawled onto the bed too, pulling her panties off. Frank then entered her, as she made a sound of pleasure as he did that.

He moved against her as she rubbed his chest. His strong arms flexing as he pushed. He grunted heavy and she moaned. Shelley reached down with her hand grabbing at Frank’s ass to push him deeper into her as he started to climax.

I want to give it to you, he said.

Yes, okay, give it to me, she said and he did just that. Frank pounded into Shelley only to release himself inside her. His entire body tensed and he cried out as if he was in pain. She could see his face turn red. The veins bulged out on his neck, as he throbbed inside her. He fell off her, rolling over onto his back and let out a loud breath. In a way, he needed that release. Shelley turned onto her side to look at him. Her hand messed with the hair on his head. Why do you have to be so great?

Frank turned his head to look at her like she did not know what she was talking about and laughed.

I’m not all that great honey, he said. She smiled, because he called her honey.

Certainly you are, she said. You make me feel good and I hope I make you feel good. Do I make you feel good? Frank sat up in the bed. He slid to the edge only to stand up and straighten out his pants. There was a pause. He looked at her with a glance from the side. He held no real expression on his face, which was one of the many mysteries of Frank. Well, Frank, do I? He turned to look at her and then let himself smile.

Do you what, baby, he asked, pretending that he did not hear her.

Do I make you feel good?

Sure you do, baby, he said, reaching down to kiss her so she would be quiet. He then took her hand pulling her up off the bed. Is there anything you want to do?

I want to go back to the house, she said.

Why?

I want to get a few things that I left behind.

I guess we can do that, if you don’t think it would be weird.

I don’t care what happened to Tim, it’s not my problem anymore.

Okay, let’s go, he said and Shelley started to pull her panties and pants back on. She started for the door and Frank smacked her on the ass when she walked past him. Shelley leaped forward laughing. She swung her hand at him.

Stop that, she said laughing again. He closed the door
