Introduction
Make the most of your PC is presented by Les King who started working with computers at the age of 18 and spent several years in programming, systems design and IT project management before moving into the area of staff recruitment over 25 years ago.
He is currently owner and manager of Eurofile IT Recruitment Limited who specialise in the placement of Information Technology personnel at all levels.
The company also provide a PC and network support service aimed at small businesses and individuals whose needs are not really addressed by the major IT consultancies.
Although today’s PC is small and cheap, it has tremendous functionality compared with the typical mainframe computers of 25 years ago.
A modern PC can replace most traditional office equipment including the secretary—it can recognise speech and handwriting as well as handling the functions of phone, FAX and answering service.
If you run a business, hold down a demanding job or simply lead a busy life, there are huge time-saving benefits to be gained from using the resources available on the internet.
Web-wise people can do their shopping, banking, travel arrangements, theatre booking, hotel booking, betting, dating and a host of other tasks without leaving their desk.
Hopefully, this eBook will help non-technical readers to realise the some of the untapped potential of their not-so-humble PC.
