Using her own micro-lending money, she has helped a number of young women become successful entrepreneurs in the U.S. and in India. She is a computer technologist who has worked with IBM, the FBI, AT&T, and many other prestigious organizations worldwide, and was a partner at Price Waterhouse Coopers. With her relentless drive to learn new skills, she has achieved her goal of financial independence. Currently a resident of New York City, Shaku grew up in a village in India, in a culture where women generally have a second-class status in society. Her chutzpah and drive for independence in every form stem from her upbringing and education. With the encouragement of an independent-thinking and supportive mother in India and an “adopted” mother in Germany, Shaku has fought her way past sexual and cultural biases.view less
