Chapter One

The cool night air was filled with passion as Patrice and Myles lie on the blanket under the stars. They had been together for almost two years now and had already been lovers for more than three quarters of that time. They had grown fond of making love to each other outside under the light of the moon, bodies enhanced by the shadowing effects of Mother Nature and the sound of the night playing music in the background.

Myles lie on his back watching a falling star wondering where Patrice’s mind was and what she was thinking. He had fallen in love with her and she was the highlight of his life. He could see her smile when he closed his eyes and smell her scent with each wisp of air. She was his desire and he loved how she made him feel.

Patrice was entranced by the stillness of the night air that evening. Lying there listening to the sounds of the evening critters gave her a sense of wilderness that only she could appreciate. As she lay beside Myles, she was content in her solitude world and wanted to be nowhere else.

Feeling a chill, Myles unrolled the extra blanket that Patrice had brought along; this gave them the comfort of the night without the chill of the air. They were content lying there, gazing into the Heavens, knowing the other was nearby.

A wolf howled in the distance and this startled Patrice. She found herself clutched onto Myles arm and her eyes perusing the darkness to locate the beast that interrupted her contentment. As they looked around in the darkness, they could see some tall grass moving not very far from where they were lying on the ground. Myles quietly whispered, Let’s head for the car and slowly. We can make it there before this animal does if we move swiftly and keep moving, don’t look back, just keep moving towards the car.

Patrice was scared now and felt her body tighten as she tried to get up from the ground. Moving slowly was not working for her so she bolted up and Myles was quick to grab her arm slowing her down a bit. "Please Patrice, move slow. We do not want to startle the
