He found her the next morning by the pool, a clearing in the wild forest where a stream opened out into a wider area. There was a shelf of rock there, where you could be hidden from sight. It was the safest place she knew, beyond the tumbledown old building she had made her home – the tumbledown building where she had abandoned the man in the night.
