About this ebook

Seventeen year old Sean Hayes is driving Elvis’ lime green dune buggy down Sunset Blvd. It is 1969 and things are starting to get icky. A movie is soon to be released with Sean’s unexpectedly naked breasts in it and she has just watched her best girlfriend shoot heroin, while Keith Richards nodded on the couch. Sean parks on Coldwater Canyon and walks down the hill where she finds a pile of black clothes, wet with blood. The Tate murders?

Meanwhile, the love of her life has disappeared south of the border and Sean has no idea exactly where he is. She leaves Beverly Hills determined to find him somewhere in Mexico, even if it means joining a traveling circus and getting lost in a world of drum rolls and lions and Mayan glyphs. Even it means having knives thrown at her for a living, and facing a loaded machine gun in the hands of her rival. Somehow, she will find Frank, even if means going deep into the jungle, just in time to view a total eclipse, on the back of her favorite elephant.

Diane Sherry Case

As an actresss, Diane had appeared in over 60 television shows and films with renowned directors, such as Woody Allen, Roger Vadim, and Dick Dnner. She played Julie Andrews sister, Bing Crosby’s and did Chekhov with Sean Penn. Her small, but most enduring role was Lana Lang in the original (Marlon Brandon and Christopher Reeves) “Superman, The Movie.”Her short fiction has been widely published in literary magazines and the anthologies American Fiction, Best Short Stories by Emerging Writers, (editted by Louise Erdrich), Unnatural Disasters: Recent Writings from the Golden State, and, most recently Love Magick (edited by Francesca Lia Block.)The jump from writing short stories to writing a novel (and adapting that as a screenplay) seemed natural for Diane and the desire to interpret her own material in film seemed to be the next logical step. Diane was given a grant and accepted into the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women, based on the script adapted from the story, Spa-tel. The film went on to be seen in over 20 Film Festivals! Diane then adapted her short story Valentine's Day into a film.Elepahant Milk was written in a young voice, but with adult themes. It loosely autobiographical, about a young girl who runs away from Hollywood and joins a Mexican circus. And yes, Diane did!

What first caught my eye was the cover, I love it. Next was the name of the book. It does catch your attention at least it did mine. Sean is 17 in 1969. So easy to fall in love hard and fast. Frank her first real love is a jerk, but she follows him down to Mexico. Since she doesn't know where he went she joins a Circus so she can go/travel from town to town to hunt him down. Along the way she meets some interesting characters and she is still on the naive side. Sean throws herself into everything. It doesn't help her mother doesn't really care about her well being. There are some interesting twists and drama going on.
