    Chapter 1 -

The distant sound of tiny feet pattering on the floor and screams of delight woke up Diana.

She slowly opened her eyes to see the children playing. The sun had started setting in the distance, and she could see their silhouettes in the light.

She gazed at them lovingly from where she was lying down and was thinking…

What a wonderful life is this… family and friends together, just perfect.

But her hazel eyes frowned when some old memories came back to her. She visibly shuddered at the thought…

They were neighbors and both their families were close friends….any and every festival, celebration or occasion used to be spent together by them….she specially loved the time when the families used to go for picnics, then all the children would sneak away to play and explore the area and she would tag along. It was all the more fun when all of them would hide in the bushes and they would wait for the elders to start searching frantically for them and the great noise they will create when one of them got discovered and all would erupt from their hiding places with whoops of joy and delight, it used to be so much fun.

Then her family had to shift to another city and they got separated, she remembered that she had not eaten for three days, she was so homesick, everybody was so worried for her… they had got her favorite food, her favorite biscuits and when nothing worked they had even taken her to a doctor but nothing worked….

Then on the same day they got a call from the neighbors’ family and she heard the voices of the children on the phone, the amount of ruckus she had created that day , she was sure that they were also listening to her on the other side of the phone as there loud voices could also be heard, but at the end of the day she finally went and ate some food, everybody was so relieved…she was given lots of sweets that day…. that was the day she realized that she would do anything to be back with them.

They were separated for almost a year
