This book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to persons (living or dead) as well as events is purely coincidental. The characters’ exploits are productions of the author’s imagination and the names used in this novel, although existing in the real or imaginary world, are used with pure fictitious and random intent.

Imagination is one of the gifts that have been given to the human mind. And this is exactly what helped me to create this novel. But I wouldn’t be able to put my imagination to good use, if not for the words, phrases or sentences that we come across with everyday. Our minds speak, our feelings show, our senses direct, and more. They all come alive in this novel. It is often said that, what is essential is invisible to the eye
. This novel gives justice to the abstract and the unseen forces which govern the human psyche. It’s time they become visible – after all, they ARE essential.
My first book is dedicated to The Almighty God who makes all things possible.
Thank you for giving me this gift.

Chapter 1
She was unable to stop her heart from exploding after hearing what he had to say. It involuntarily burst out into fragments in every direction, like glass being thrown against a wall. She got down to her knees and began picking the pieces of her broken heart right in front of him. He followed suit to help her clear up the mess she had made.
There's another one over there by the chair beside you,
she instructed, still desperately scouring the floor for scattered pieces.
He looked at her in frustration. He wanted to take the words back, but they already entered her ears and got embedded into her system. He clearly saw her eyes burn with anger for a while when he uttered the first few words, but she quickly extinguished it with the coldest stare he had ever seen.
"I'm really, really sorry, France," he said with regret digging deep within his insides while he continued picking up the debris.
The blank expression remained. She seemed unmoved no matter how much he tried to apologize. He couldn’t blame her. But he wished he could at least see even a trace of forgiveness for what he had done.
No worries, Russia,
she lied, feigning her agony. "It's all good. What matters is that you told me what I needed to hear. She paused for a while then continued.
In fact, I'm kind of relieved this is over."
Over?
he asked with curious brows, handing her another piece of her heart. That word hit him hard like a mallet. Please, understand my situation...
Exactly,
she nodded. I fully understand and I respect your situation. My sleepless nights of thinking about why I'm entertaining your madness will finally come to an end. I can move on with my life without you, finally. Thank you.
His face looked flushed. He reached out to hold her hand which she instinctively pulled away. He couldn’t believe she could utter words those words to him so carelessly. He told her the truth not to keep her away, but to be honest. He expected her to understand and to help him get through it just like she had always been there for him before. She sounded as though – she didn’t want to see him ever again.
Madness?
he repeated even as his voice trembled. Loving you and letting you see that now, isn't madness. Leaving you behind all those years is what I would call madness! I shouldn't have disappeared like that,
he admitted.
You did what you had to do,
France said, tears rolling down her eyes. Every decision you made was your own - even this one.
He struggled to keep a straight face even as he felt his pulse race to the finish line. He wanted to pull her into his arms so he could hear her heartbeat but she stood defensively, like she was ready to give him a good enough beating if he even tried to touch her once more. He gave a resigned sigh and shook his head in defeat.
Ah... I don't know what else to say, honey,
he whispered audibly.
A black cloud loomed above her head which she shoved away with a slight wave. "Please. Stop calling me that. I told you to call me by my name," she said, irritated.
He watched her carelessly dump the pouch containing the fragments of her heart inside her duffel bag.
I'll glue them up when I get home,
she said.
Then she faced him with a smile he knew
