Meditation - Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

    Foreword

Meditation is all about attunement. Meditation is oneness with our spiritual core, our intrinsic divinity. How do we connect to this state of oneness? How do we meditate? What are its varied methods? What are its benefits? This little compilation provides us with rare insight into these and other related areas. Bhagawan’s words shower light on aspects of meditation. To lead a happy life, man needs peace of mind. The mind is like the turbulent Ganga. It has to be restrained by the use of brakes, as in a fast-moving vehicle. Dhyana (meditation) is the brake devised for the control of the mind. Dhyana means one-pointed concentration. All the diseases, which afflict man, are the result of agitations in the mind. The enormous growth of disease in the world, today, is due to the loss of peace of mind. To get rid of illness and to lead a calm, healthy life, man has to cultivate mental peace.

Unless you concentrate, you cannot drive at all. Whatever you are doing, do it as if life itself is meditation. You must ensure that while performing action, you do it with concentration, avoiding haste, waste, and worry. It is difficult to control the mind without sublimating it. Do not entertain the notion that the path is fraught with difficulties. Anything can be achieved by earnest endeavours.
