Titles in the series (7)
- Dharma
1
Dharma is generally used in two contexts. One, as duty and the second, as righteousness. Every individual dons a number of roles during his Earthly sojourn. He plays the part of a son, a father, a friend, a disciple, a husband, a professional, a seeker. Each of these roles dictates a certain code of conduct, do’s and don’ts that govern his decisions at various points. One’s dharma serves as guiding star during moments of internal conflict. It serves as a benchmark to action. Understanding the nature of dharma is imperative to holistic decision-making in a world that offers a million options. “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha,” it is said. Dharma protects its protector. Listen to Bhagawan as He speaks of the nature of Dharma and its role in one’s life.
- Guru
2
“Acharya Devo Bhava,” state our scriptures. Treat the guru as god. “Teacher” is a very weak, inadequate substitute in English for the Sanskrit word “Guru”. “Guhate Ruhyate Iti Guru,” it is said. One, who dispels the darkness of ignorance is the true guru. A guru is like a lamp that illumines our path to self-discovery. A guru serves to instruct and inspire. He is a companion, a friend, a mentor all rolled into one. A guru leads one to God, to one’s own self. Listen to Bhagawan as He speaks of the guru and the sweetness in a guru-shishya relationship.
- Karma
3
Karma or actions form the fabric of our daily physical existence. Our actions govern our destiny. The Karmic concept forms the central core of Hinduism. It holds that the consequences of one’s deeds follow the soul as it migrates from one place of existence to another. Karma also refers to action in a physical daily sense. Our attitudes and beliefs that govern these actions are vital to well being and harmony. “Karmanyeva Adhikaraste,” says the Lord in the Gita. We are responsible for our actions, but hold no rights over the fruits thereof. Listen to Bhagawan as He unravels the mysteries behind karma. Over the next few pages, try listening to His voice as He speaks of how our actions make us what we are, and how we can use them to become what we want to be.
- Life
4
What is life all about? Many have asked this question, many more have looked for answers. Life appears as a bundle of experiences accumulated over a lifetime. There is happiness and sorrow, pleasure and pain, success and failure. What does life have to offer to the seeker? A gifted opportunity to realise the purpose of existence, finding the single truth to the many questions we find around us. Who we are, where are we going? Life is truly beautiful. Life is happiness. Life is learning. Listen to Bhagawan as He speaks to us about life and all it has to offer.
- Meditation
5
Meditation is all about attunement. Meditation is oneness with our spiritual core, our intrinsic divinity. How do we connect to this state of oneness? How do we meditate? What are its varied methods? What are its benefits? This little compilation provides us with rare insight into these and other related areas. Bhagawan’s words shower light on aspects of meditation. Listen to Him in the following pages.
- Peace
6
"“What do you want?” Bhagawan’s simple question to his devotee. “I want Peace.” A simple reply to His simple question. Or is it that simple? Peace is one of the most craved for qualities in today’s world. Ironically, it remains as evasive as it is obtainable, as complex as it is simple. Today’s fast-paced, hurried existence leaves us with little time to ourselves. Every now and then, it seems so important to slow down and make time to connect to one’s higher self. One strives to infuse greater harmony and balance into one’s life. Listen to Bhagawan as He speaks of how we can do so. Peace is waiting at our doorstep. Peace is within our reach. Peace is here. Peace is now. Listen to Bhagawan...
