About this ebook

Love Unhinged is a collection of short romantic stories.

Excerpt from The Woman on the Bus:
"Later, she found him in his office in the English Department, knocked on the door and went in. She flung the roll of money in his face, and stormed out of the office, slamming the door with such force, the wall vibrated and the frames of the photos on it rattled."

Excerpt from A Matter of Pronunciation:
"My fourteen year old cousin, Luanna, was crying at her wedding, just hours before the ceremony began.
She jumped when I entered the room. Her veil was removed, and tears smeared her makeup. When she saw me, she pulled me inside the room and made me promise, that I’d never tell her parents or mine what I had seen. I soaked her handkerchief in a basin of water nearby, and wiped her tearstained face."

    The Woman on the Bus

Melissa Cartwright breathed a sigh of relief as she plopped herself down noisily in the window seat of the Greyhound bus. She had just hustled herself and her luggage through the crowded terminal while she spat Excuse me and I’m sorry! to stupefied passengers standing in her way.

She tried to maneuver her bag under the seat and realized that the person seated behind her had already done so. As she stood to face the culprit, she hissed under her breath, the silent venom spewing its dialogue through her eyes.

Could you move your bag please, it’s under my seat, she said, through gritted teeth.

The man, aged and balding, peered cautiously over his glasses. He quickly thrust the newspaper aside and responded to her request.

Thank you, ever so kindly, she snorted, and shoved her bag within the empty space.

Trying hard to calm herself, she sat down, and waited for the bus to be on its way. Her life had been one mess after another lately. Melissa looked forward to leaving this sodden, down-trodden town where tourists flock like wild geese. Maybe that way she’ll have a much better life. She glanced at the man seated across from her to the right, a trailer-park looking old
